AN do you change the oil filter or let the dealer do that? I have always wondered why they put oil filters in the hardest to get to places and in a way that there is no way to remove them without some drips. My diesel (German car) has a skid plate and one of those topside oil filters which is why I use a Topsider, it’s the only way to get most of the oil out of the bottom of the oil filter housing. The whole process takes a little longer than the bottom method but it is cleaner and gets more oil out. Do like spdrun’s oil nipple idea, will probably end up doing it that way to save time, it’s how the mobile oil change mechanics that come to you do it.
I change my own oil filter when I change my own oil, since I’m already under the car, it isn’t a big deal. But I only change my own oil over other oil change. I bring my cars to the dealer the other times, but I bring them my oil and filter.
