Why do you think I haven’t chimed in. Spent the weekend with my Italian husband and his Italian family – cooking, eating, drinking wine, chatting… Good times.November 14, 2011 at 4:58 PM #732964urbanrealtorParticipant

No Italians in this group, so far:) Eating, drinking, friends is art.
Was there la posta?November 14, 2011 at 4:59 PM #732965jeemanParticipantI am around food all the time. I just don’t stuff my face whenever there is food.
If you absolutely HAVE TO eat (never encountered this problem, as my friends typically don’t hold guns to my head), stick with meat, and stay away from the starch, sugars and carbs.
Take 2 doses of self-control and call me in the morning.

That’s what I do.
Nothing but bacon for me.
And steak.November 14, 2011 at 6:50 PM #732977CoronadoflyerParticipantHit the gym and have more sex. Problem solved.
November 14, 2011 at 6:53 PM #732978CoronadoflyerParticipantFrench pastry is good, mix in American steak and you have a meal.

Don’t forget the red wine!
[This was close to my diet for almost a year. I got gout. Other than that, I loved it.]

Why avoid La Posta at 3am when you can witness some of the best tranny brawls Mexican joints can offer?
I specifically go to La Posta at 3am just for that reason. That, and their beans.

That’s la fuente.
Not la posta.
I know.
Its down the street from my office.
I had breakfast there.November 14, 2011 at 7:42 PM #732982urbanrealtorParticipantAlso, AFX, you risk having your beaner card revoked for that error.
I wouldn’t be able to show my face at christmas on my mexican side if I goofed that one up.
Of course they’re also jewish so the guilt trips are really bad.
Nothing like having your jewish cousin give you a guilt trip about being mexican at christmas.
Wow.
That last sentence was almost as much fun to read as it was to write.November 14, 2011 at 8:37 PM #732986svelteParticipant
I and the wife have gained too much weight lately. Every time we want to get togetther with friends it is all about eating…To make matter worse, we overeat every time.
Anyone having the same problem? Especially with Thanksgivings, Christmas and New Year coming.
The holidays are the hardest to maintain a healthy diet. We’ve borrowed an idea that many couples use now: splitting a meal when we go out to eat. It is very common, watch the tables around you.
As for what you can do with friends that doesn’t involve eating, we pick the activity that matches the interests of whomever we’re with (and ours), including:
– Concerts (Indian casinos, belly up, anthology, 4th&b)
– Dancing to live bands at nightclubs(dancing is actually quite a bit of exercise!)
– Car-club runs (join the club of your choosing and participate in their activities)
– Wine tasting (if you haven’t spent an afternoon at the Temecula wineries on a weekend, you haven’t lived)
– Sporting events (Padres, Chargers, etc)
– Hiking
– Car shows
Granted some of the above also include a meal at some point, but that’s only natural since everyone needs to eat. Just split a meal with your spouse.
I didn’t even get into some of the even more adult activities that can be done with friends, they are a lot of exercise too!
Good luck, and at least you’re thinking in the right direction. That is half the battle right there.

I am a recovering Italian. Food is like breathing in an Italian family.November 14, 2011 at 11:04 PM #732995afx114Participant
That’s la fuente.
Not la posta.
Shit you’re right. That is a mortal error. I’m disappointed in myself and have let my adopted race down. All these damn Mexicans and their restaurants and their La’s and El’s and rolled R’s and eñe’s, can’t keep them straight.
I can’t vouch for La Posta’s tranny brawls, but have experienced some enjoyable pan handling action there in the past. General rule: La Fuente = beans & tranny brawls, La Posta = asada, Los Panchos = meh, Rigobertos = that place in that movie “A Day Without A Mexican.”
But the general point still stands: you can’t beat a drunken 3AM trip to a Hillcrest taco shop.
Signed,
Your beloved race traitor. -
