Can i make other offers if im in escrow on a short sale?

I put an offer for an “Bank Approved Short Sale” last week. Escrow has been opened and my earnest money check has been deposited. I am now in the process of waiting for the sellers bank to “re-approve” me since i am a new buyer.

Maybe i am being too impatient, but i haven’t heard anything from my agent. My calls go to voice mail and i don’t get my calls returned. Should i keep looking around? My agent made it sound like a done deal last week and told us not to look anymore, but now i am not so sure.

Is it possible to put an offer down for another house if im already in escrow and my earnest money deposited already?

One final question, the listing agent and my agent both work for the same firm, is it ethical for me to contact the listing agent since i can’t reach mine?

What’s the hurry at this point. The tax credits are gone and so far I haven’t seen evidence that there’s a ton of great deals hitting the market. Rumor has it that BofA is starting to drop a bunch of REOs, but I haven’t seen great deals. If you find a place that is a much better deal and/or fits your needs better maybe it would be worth exploring but short sales are much quicker than they used to be. Other then rising interest rates I couldn’t really see the urgency but you may have a particular situation where you need to move sooner than later.
