ParticipantWow a budding romance.
I spent 3 weeks in Tokyo on a business trip, and went for Shabu-Shabu on two separate occasions. In general I don’t enjoy going to the Beni-hana style steak houses because I am not a big onion or squash guy, and that’s how they whip it all up. However the Shabu-shabu (swish-swish) I really liked. I might have glossed over the last page of the thread but is that served in San Diego?
Sushi, I view as side dish or appetizer that I could care less if I eat or not. My wife lately just gets the stuff at Henry’s here in Encinitas. Generally if she orders it, I’ll have one or two.

ParticipantNo joint checking account is a deal-breaker? That’s so odd to me. Why bother having the extra account?

Participantshabu-shabu is served at some of the Korean-owned Japanese restaurants called “Ichiro” in SD. There’s one on Convoy and one on the east end of Mira Mesa Blvd in the plaza near “play it again sports”. It’s OK but you can easily do it yourself at home as well.
