February 8, 2010 at 2:09 PM #510700creechrrParticipantI noticed that there had been what seemed like a large number of bank robberies in the area. What I didn’t realize is that teens were involved. I wonder if this is an economic indicator or just a conincedence.
Are the “rich” kids having to turn to crime to support their activities?
Have any arrests been made in any of these cases?
Particularly the cases involving teens, you would think an arrest would be pretty quick.
How many banks are in Carmel Valley? Goodness….

February 8, 2010 at 2:40 PM #510710CoronitaParticipantMy theory is that
1)Considered slightly more affluent area
+
2)Lax security precautionsProbably you don’t see this as much in La Jolla, Encinitas, nor RSF because the police there don’t kid around.
I doubt these teens are from the area. The thing is that with teens being able to rob a bank and not being apprehended, it probably sends a message to every other juvi that “hey, easy target”…
There aren’t *that* many banks. Maybe 15ish…And most of them are INSIDE a supermarket like vons, ralphs, etc or inside a well lit, heavily populated strip mall….
One of my neighbhor’s friend that lives in torrey hills has their car broken into. And then perp ended up using their credit card at a video store…They had clear VIDEO from a security camera showing the two perps (man and woman)…SDPD still hasn’t done shit.
Some of the banks were robbed twice in the same year.
The few banks that do end up hiring a security guard, it’s a joke. Usually some guy who looks like is a senior citizen that’s about to keel over. I guess they figure not that could possibly happen…Absolutely ridiculous…
