I think that most women do the decorating. So if you’re the man of the house, is the house really your castle without your own space?

A friend converted his garage A friend converted his garage to his man cave… walls and walls of tv’s. (whenever a friend upgraded their tv – he offered to take the old one.) He’s got every sports package available via cable and satellite. A card table, some comfy chairs, a beer cooler. It’s the place to be if you like watching sports.
We don’t have a man cave. My husband has never expressed desire for one. I’d be willing to give up the guest room if he really wanted one.
Does the section of the garage that houses his tools/tool bench/drill press/ sheet metal break, etc count? That’s not really a man cave, though.

I converted a single car I converted a single car garage into a hybrid gym and man cave. Dropped the spongy flooring down, have a treadmill, roman chair, bench and free weights for the gym side of things along with two of those big rubber balls and mats for wife to do yoga or pilates or whatever. Piped cable in with surround sound mounted on the walls. Have a full fridge with kegerator for the beers, dartboard setup so you can toss darts while the games are on. Bikes up on the walls for the kids as well. Its nice bc i can open it up and pipe the game sound out to the street while i watch my kid play or music if we have a block party out front.
So not so much a man or woman cave but a “family cave”.

That’s the definition. It seems people use the term more often on the East Coast where houses have basements.
