Zeitgeist
ParticipantThey are efficient little predators, the distant relations of dinosaurs and they eat their weight in weed seeds, the swallows (which do not use the feeder) eat tons of insects and the others eat their share of bugs. I like having them in the yard for their beauty and their song. I am an animal lover. Now Dave, what do the people who receive welfare contribute to the economy? I suppose they contribute to taxes by trading their food subsidy for money so they can buy cigarettes. That contributes to the tax base. Happy now, I am just fuzzy on animals. Besides the cats enjoy watching the birds. It is their version of Animal Planet.

ParticipantIt is a deeper well and we are using U.S. taxpayer money to pay for foreigners to drill deeper than the rigs he has shut down.
One more thing to think about:
The Soviets nuked several out-of-control gas wells, according to reports. In the Central Asian republic of Turkmenistan, a fire has raged for nearly 40 years after a drilling rig ignited underground gas. And in some places on earth, leaking and oozing oil has been blithely ignored for decades.

ParticipantPrecisely. I have a bird feeder and the more I feed them, the more the word gets out and the more they eat. Fortunately, I have decided to fill the feeder once a week and the rest of the time, they have to eat bugs and pick up what they spill. Maybe they go look for more feeders. I enjoy watching them, but I have set limits to how many times I fill the feeder for them. Some of the doves are starting to look like cornish game hens. It is the same analogy. If we do not limit the amount of assistance for all, but those who for some extreme medical reason cannot work, then there will not be second and third generations waiting to be fed, housed and clothed. That is not good for anyone.
