ParticipantJust tell your landlord to stick their rent increase next time. If they say no, leave. They will easily lose the 1200 in the month or months the house is vacant unless they can get someone in right away.
Unless you have very specific requirements, it’s very easy to find a new place. There are hundreds of landlords hoping to rent to you on craigslist every day. Landlords who get greedy on rents will find themselves with empty houses unless they can get timid tenants who bend over and take whatever is thrown at them.

ParticipantWhats the market like down in Stonebridge, 92131? I went to see the models back in ’04 and they seemed like nice buildings, but a little bit far into the boonies for my taste.
I saw this one:
http://housing-crash.com/2007/06/24/potential-350k-loss-in-scripps-ranch.asp
and wondered whether that was indicitive of a general post bubble malaise down there, or is that an exceptional case?

Participantjg, for such a ‘newshound’, you sure get it wrong a lot. Your ‘point’ about fighting them over there was so laced with irony and fallicious logic I just don’t know where to begin.

ParticipantAll those who think that we need in home diaper and laundry service like france for new mothers and are willing to pay a 40% tax rate to get it raise your hands…
I pay around that much tax to live in California.
healthcare system will still have a ‘gatekeeper’ that will have the same job as any HMO, namely to grant or deny coverage.
The whole point of universal coverage is nobody gets denied the care they need. If its critical (in the UK at least) you get seen at once, they wont make you wait. However, people might have to wait a bit to get that boob job or whatever other non critical procedure, unless they want to pay for it themselves. I actually have to wait longer for a doctors appointment in CA than I ever did in the UK.

ParticipantCould it be possible that vets are more likely to have serious chronic conditions that need long term care than the general population? I would have thought so, all those guys coming back with serious psychological issues, missing limbs and shrapnel or bullets wounds, not to mention being around all that toxic depleted uranium. I would have thought they would be a lot less healthy than the majority of Americans.
