IIRC from my college Poli Sci classes – Fascism tends to favor corporations and corporatism at the expense of the citizens. Socialism tends to favor citizens at the expense of the corporations and corporate ownerships.

You guys & gals can argue about whether this is socialism or fascism.

I think the automatic reassessment is happening in Ventura county also. I have a friend who bought in 2007 in Simi and she didn’t apply, but was given automatically, a tax decrease.

They don’t have to do every house – just ones purchased between 2004 – 2007. (maybe 2003-2008.)

Why have the extra processing of dealing with requests… just send the assessors out to the neighborhoods with lists of houses during the window in question – and have them re-assess.

Palin has a lot of rhetoric about fiscal conservativism – but as governor she was the queen of pork. Unlike Sanford, who had to be sued to take the stim money, she made a show of not taking it – then flipped and took all but a very small bit. Per capita, Alaska gets more fed $ than any other state. And their budget is not in the red anymore. She put in place high taxes on the oil companies (corporate taxation – not a good conservative principal.) And now that revenue stream has slowed since the price per barrel dropped.
