ParticipantThats silly. I myself do not believe in religion. That however does not make me an evil person. This concept that those who do not share the same beliefs as yourself makes them evil is close minded. I believe in the goodness of most people. And have never said that we should not have freedom of religion. But when the goverment chooses to promote one more then the other that freedom is limited. However we have used religion in politics to give us a sense of righteousness. I believe there are many people out there who do not believe in god and would make perfectly good leaders in this country. What is your religion?

ParticipantWouldn’t it be cool if we had a president who didn’t believe in any religion? It really seems silly to me all this stuff about “in god we trust”. It’s a great way to get away with doing whatever you want. When I was in high school we were having a discussion about a guy who killed someone because god told him to. Everyone in the class thought he must be crazy, but one girl who was fairly religious. She said what if god did tell him to kill. Who were we to say he was wrong for killing another human being. It was one of those eye opening moments. Oh by the way “GOD “ told me to let everyone know to stop using him as an excuse to get away with stupid shit.
But to try to fault Obama for use of religion in politics is a stretch. All of the politicians have been using it for as long as I can remember. Unfortunately it still wins elections. I look forward to the day that I don’t have to say “one nation under god”, when the president doesn’t end every speech with “god bless”, when our money no longer has “in god we trust on it, and when the influence of religion no longer taints politics. I do not think I will live to see that day. Maybe someday my great great grandchildren will. God I hope so.October 23, 2008 at 12:24 PM in reply to: Off Topic “When fascism comes to America it will be wrapped in the flag and carrying a cross.” #292000tc

ParticipantLike I said I am against it. But I believe it was the lawmakers fearing for their jobs that killed this bill. And they should be scared. The failures in this country are on the shoulders of all lawmakers. And to blame each other is a joke. Stop pointing fingers. Get rid of the crap. Don’t buy it. So what if everyone loses. Stop crying. Tighten up your belts. Get rid of your hummer. Get rid of credit. Dont buy what you cant afford. Since when did money and possesions really matter. Why cant we drive a 4 cylinder to the park and throw the football around. Do we really need a hummer and a jet ski. Have we forgot that one day we will die. You cannot take it with you. Turn off your propaganda machine. You dont need all that crap. And you dont need it now. Shut up and man up.
Ride the bus. Ride your bike. Take a lunch to work. Stop going to starbucks. You fat, lazy, greedy, pigs. 80)September 29, 2008 at 4:53 PM in reply to: Off Topic Clip of Peloski’s speech that cratered deal. She should resign. #277916tc
