ParticipantWhy is it irresponsible to grieve in public? Isn’t public grief the point of a funeral or any number of other ceremonies?
As far as the people making a fuss, fact is that a significant number of racists have been enabled by the Trump win. People who are one of the ethnicities that Trump (and his supporters) have railed against have every right to feel threatened, uncomfortable, and angry.
Same goes for anyone who has close friends, family, or significant others.

ParticipantIn most places outside of California, property tax millage rates are adjustable as a % of value, so revenue might not decline. If there’s no gov’t help for banks/homeowners, I’d suspect that banks would be forced to write down loans vs foreclosing.

ParticipantIf anything, the bottom end hasn’t changed much, the top end is still selling. The market has actually become slightly more bottom-heavy in the last few months.

ParticipantLook at bond rates. End.

ParticipantCalifornia is a net contributor to the Federal budget. They’d be able to self-fund replacement programs for school lunches if their money wasn’t stolen by Warshington.
Also, CA could legalize all of the illegal immigrants presently within its borders and have them work for regular wages ($15+/hr).

ParticipantSmaller states already have more representation in the Senate and Congress. The Electoral College made sense … in the 1700s.
Also, it’s undemocratic, because many states don’t even bind their electors to follow the popular vote.

ParticipantSorry, been seeing too many people gloating about recent events online, in perfect earnest. 🙁

ParticipantHey bearishgurl, you won. Congratulations! Why do you have to be an insufferable beyotch about it? You strike me as the mean girl in high school, and you haven’t grown up beyond that point apparently.

ParticipantUnclear… Trumpkin actually seems more open-minded on the matter than one would assume:

ParticipantThe Middle American equivalent of the L.A. Riots? Let’s burn everything down to teach the rich a lesson. Smart.

ParticipantHUD is right about arrest records — arrest =/= conviction. IMHO, arrest records shouldn’t even be public unless there’s a conviction, since it’s up to the courts to mete out punishment, not the police. (And encouraging discrimination in employment or housing is punishment, like it or not.)
As far as criminal records, it depends. I’d not rent to a violent criminal or to a thief. But if someone was caught smoking pot or got in trouble for being rude to some blowhard of a cop, I wouldn’t care at all. I’d definitely like to know the whole story before judging anyone.

ParticipantThey usually have a flushometer tankless system. You can buy the metering valves in 1.6 and 1.28 gal versions.

ParticipantHere’s the odd thing. Looking at social media, there are a LOT of vocal female Trump supporters. Far more than would exist in a normal world. Their rationale appears to be “he’ll keep us safe from terror and crime”, “he’ll keep our kids from growing up around the Other.”
Don’t underestimate the desire for safety and the momma-bear instinct.
