ParticipantLet them consolidate and/or stop paying their blue-collar employees $100k+ per year. If some overpaid cops and trash collectors leave the state and move to Alabama, good riddance to bad union garbage.

ParticipantThe best thing that could happen is that QE3 continues, but will simply become old news. Fed would lose control of interest rates, and some of Zimbabwe Ben’s asset-inflationary bad work would be unwound. Better now than later when the fall will be even harder.
Bonus points when Q4 earnings (affected by shutdown) start flowing in three months and are compared with stock valuations. Add to that the Jan 15 deadline for another shutdown, and we might have interesting times ahead!
And yes, I know that stocks =/= housing, but the two are intimately related, at least emotionally.

ParticipantMan… One second you are saying something with intelligence and the next you are coming up with this crap.
But I was agreeing with you that people are mostly required to obey police orders…
However, I was ALSO saying that a lot of police orders are bizarre and arbitrary. As to the Pepper Spraying Cop, screw him. Hope he’s unemployed for a few years and he goes through the $30k without ever enjoying it.

ParticipantI’m assuming the same law that obligates anyone to follow cops’ orders, no matter how fucking arbitrary and bizarre.

ParticipantActually, I’m rather sloppy.

ParticipantWould 399 rounds have been OK?

ParticipantSome cops deserve to be impeded. Too many of the blighters on a power trip out there anyway — it would do them some good to be forced to take a break, slow down, and smell the Occu-pie.

ParticipantLovely. Couldn’t he have taken the Cobain path to Nirvana rather than thinking that money buys happiness?

ParticipantI don’t get the problem. If it’s within city limits or corporate limits of another incorporated town, it’s a neighborhood. If it’s incorporated itself or is an unincorporated area with services, then it’s a community. Why the semantic catfight here?

ParticipantOr really horrible tenants — once their contract expires, they can jet back home, leave the apartment a complete toilet, and good luck collecting damages.

ParticipantUnless incomes will go up 31% in the next 14 months, I highly doubt that figure. Incidentally, when I was renting my unit, I got quite a few callbacks, but maybe only 1/3 to 1/2 of those responded when I got back to them.

ParticipantFlyerInHI: Did I say anything about not having emotional connections with anyone else? Not having other friends would be boring, for sure.
But no, I couldn’t be married to and share a home with someone whom I didn’t have an emotional connection with. That would be a bit pointless.
This is not the 1700s. I’m not interested into marrying into another royal family or to get half the bride’s father’s herd of sheep.
