ParticipantI see plenty of it and higher but that speaks to the area I work in and my client base. I dont think you should hold yourself up to a HH with an attorney and teacher as normal. They are well above median wager earners.

With that kind of income and a few years to make a little more you should be able to comfortably afford 450k to 500k with 20% down if you choose to. That is about where my wife and I started out in our current home several years ago and it has never been much of a stretch. Hopefully, there will be a day soon that it gets you something very nice.sdrealtor

ParticipantA rental came up in my neighborhood and there were 5 applications the first day! Its going to take alot more supply around here to meet that kind of demand.

ParticipantTo my understanding, I can draw on my HELOC (a few 100k) regardless of whether value goes down. It does have a 15 year duration though.
