I think it would be safer to society as a whol to make changes slowly, phase them down gradually, so they dont rise up and hurt people.
I think it would be a grave threat to public safety to have large numbers of unemployed cops.

ParticipantJust 100 organized excop timothy mcveighs would be equivalent to 1000 9/11s.
Saddams former cops and enforcers prop up isis. They didnt just fade away into obscurity with social change.
Cops are cops. They enforce current social order.
Our cops arent all going to peacably accept social change and take jobs at ralphs or go back to college.
Im not saying all excops would be dangerous, but statistically i would be terrified at the prospect of large numbers of suddenly unemployed cops.
I would hope the military would just absorb them all and give them a task and a uniform and some dignity. For public safety.

Participant
Homemade mask doesn’t do shit for aerosal. If you just wear a homemade mask, you can still smell just about everything that passes through. N95 is better but only if you wear it correctly, and there is a tight seal between it and your face. Most people don’t put on a mask correctly, so the effectiveness goes way down. The only masks that are really effective are the P100 masks. But those masks, besides the need to put them on correctly, have a valve. So while it offers superior protection for yourself, doesn’t do shit for the person next to you because the way the valve works, it closes fully when you breath in but opens fully when you breathe out. It’s designed to protect the wearer and make it comfortable to breathe, but that’s bad news for everyone else because water droplets/etc from you is going right into the air unfiltered. I wear these respirators all the time for painting and I feel much safer that St least with paint, you aren’t wearing things correctly you can tell right away…because you can smell the fumes right away. So I had plenty of time to practice wearing a respirator correctly. I guarantee most people,.even if they have the proper PPE, probably aren’t puting it on correctly to be effective. that’s why social distancing and remaining at home remains key.
That’s why a lot of these protestors are fucking stupid. They keep saying we will keep at 6 feet away as if 6 feet is a magic number for guaranteeing you won’t catch something from a stranger next to you. That 6 feet has a lot of assumptions. for example you aren’t stand next to someone for a very long time, there isn’t any wind that could carry aerosol particles for a distance, etc. Morons, absolute morons. Darwin in practice.
I believe it will lower my dosage when o got it, even a lame mask

Participant
While we are in the de-funding mode lets add: code enforcement, meter maids, EPA,IRS, local govn’t, State Goveners, Super PAC’s, NPR, EIC, social programs, and on and on. I get it, let’s start over.
Most of those help maintain social order. Lets start with cops and see how it goes.

Participant
Yeah, I would be surprised if we don’t have a reinfection. No one gives a shit anymore. Not at restaurants, not outdoors, not at protests.
This lockdown thing was the stupidest thing. Americans have proven they are incapable of doing the simplest basic things if it can increase the chances of reducing infection. Trump and anti-mask people don’t take it seriously. Protestors don’t take the social distancing and mask seriously, and our businesses want to reopen quickly too. Everyone is bending the rules and making this own shit up to try give themselves an excuse why they shouldn’t be doing the basic things in the spirit of what our health officials are saying.
Just open everything up and let darwin survival of the fittest and evolution run its course. Send all the healthcare workers home so they can rest.
If just a little more of the country gets a little dumber, trump wins in the fall.
I like my mask
Its soft, has a filter, and provides facial sun protection.
I might wear it anyway, i hate sunscreen.

Participant
IMO it would have worked much better with less drastic measures from the beginning.
The Lock-down IMO was a very stupid thing to do in the USA, I don’t see it happening again no matter how things go.
My doctor wife says everyone talks big till they have trouble breathing.
She guarantees me everyones bravado disappears in the e.r. when youre suffocating. Esp if your in the hallway not being seen for 12 hours
Hopefully thats not me.
Or you.
But for karmic purposes, whatever your opinion, proceed with humility. 40 perc of america over age 20 is obese. Things could get bad real fast cause half tge country or more is high risk
Personally, im going to try not to get sick. And hope theres medical help if i need it.

Every cop who participated wasted their life. Dumber than the vietnam war.
Not quite as useless and dumb as afghanistan military action.

Participant
So I just got back from a run around Miramar Lake and stopped by ShareTea in Mira Mesa. Oh my god, the line was all around the building. So I left and went to MeetFresh and same thing. I looked around lines everywhere for food and drinks at several Asian eatery.
At least from what I see in MM, I think many of these food places will probably recover ok
ParticipantI have a former colleague who sounds so intensely fox news deep state george soros conspiracy that to my ears he sounds like he is actually insane.
And im pretty open to wacko stuff. But, yknow, i try to keep my eye on the exits, dont think i know the truth and everyone else is blind.
I mean, it just starts to get really deep in the weeds really quick with malicious motives everywhere.
Cruises are evil is a slightly wacky statement that is just my particular moral judgment, and seems qualitatively different than george soros is trying to control our society covertly through drugged chocolate fountains on cruise ships.
But msybe its not so different. Maybe hes just saying soros is evil?
But i am not trying to say society is at grave risk because of cruise ships. I aso dont feel like people are being tricked or manipulated. I just think they dont care one iota.
Also it feels lkke, maybe wrongly, that there is no evidence or reasoning that would move him.
Trump could be literally ass raping him in front of my eyes and he would say im misunderstanding the situation.
Or maybe i give myself too many sane points.
Any discussion we have immediately descends into a numver of points or connections that strike me as unproveable, mad or just silly.
I cannot and will not ever engage.
The part i object to is not that its not interesting to talk to him.
Its that its no fun. At all. Just stressy and weird.
Its like talking to a jehovahs witness looking 4 a soul. But condescending too, like im kind of a moron.
Its urgent creepy and makes my heart hurt.
Its also often really mean spirited, from my brainwashed liiberal perspective of course.
I almost expect sometomes he might say haha it was just a goof. Only kidding.
That would be annoying, but id appreciate his commitment to the prank.
Or maybe its just to make noise to differentiate ones self, to feel in the know.
I feel that impulse.

Phew! Cars aren’t on that list.
C8 Stingray is an absolute must for happiness at Thunder Hill.
(Thunder Hill is a great track)Cars have social utility.
Cruises do too, sort of, but because they have used quasi slave employees, they make the list
