The funny part is there is a new BMW dealership in Murrieta, and I have seen quite a few new ferrari and maserati’s running around TV.
But yea trucks and SUV’s do much better in TV in general.
My wife’s 1998 Camry is quickly becoming like my 1989 civic was. Leaks a quart of oil a month. Weird noises. Lots of body damage. I wish she’d swap it with me for my new accord but she says it’s hard to see over the hood.

Participant

First it was about defunding Obamacare, now it’s the debt. So it looks like the GOP has given up on the defund ACA goal.
Yeah I think they’ve seen the fairly rocky start for Obamacare and might just let it play out as a possible disaster. Note the switch from Obamacare to the ACA in order to distance the president from the initial poor implementation. I can pretty much guarantee it will only be referred to as Obamacare if it works and the ACA if it turns out to be a disaster that I expect it to become.
I think a lot of people really thought Obamacare was going to be “free” health insurance but as they actually look at it the people are realizing that it isn’t free and actually it’s quite expensive. The young and healthy will probably start screaming soon when they realize they are going to be paying a weekend of fun every month for something they probably aren’t going to need to use.
young and healthy freeloaders, freeloading with their lithe, supple, active bodies, making us oldtimers pay for their occasioanl breakdown.
hrumph.
they ought to get some damn insurance. stop having so much fun.

Participantat times, everyone’s work can seem kind of ridiculous.
the nature of humanity. pretty much everything we do is absurd, destructive, a patch to a prior problem we created, the product of strange lusts and desires, or just madness.
except for fashion. fashion is important.

Participanti think the idea is to destroy the economy so that they can save the economy. and claim that the economy was destroyed or about to implode anyway.
which could be true, i s uppose. hell it’s what ive been expecting for years until i bought into the whole leveraged real estate hallucination.
but it’s still murder to kill a dying human being.
and it’s still kinda nutty to try to upend the global financial system without a plan in place…

ParticipantAh. It appears they have more work to do at the polls if they want to operate as a democracy.

as a jew, I would never buy a german car. that’s not a universally held position. but I would not. i don’t trust them.
How’s your *new* Honda running, scaredy??
Participant
Lemon law the dern thing?! Leave it in East Palo Alto and let someone steal it?
And as an American, I should be loath to buy Japanese cars. Remember the Bataan Death March!
(And German cars, since my non-American grandfather died fighting the Nazis in the resistance.)
It’s been almost 70 years at this time. Let the best product win.
sorry. this is my one nonnegotaible article of faith.
no german cars.

ParticipantIf the shutdown is the solution there will be no more governance by majority.
The minority on any law can say no further gov unless we get our way.
This is the end.
But many among us have been hoping for apocalyptic type events.
This could be it.
I don’t think this is smart in the long run.
I doubt this makes us stronger.
Or richer.
