Participantits difficult for me to imagine what life would be like, not constantly thinking about the money.
probably nice unless there’s problems.
ma i recommend switching to Old Crow bourbon. at12.99 per1.75 l, ican make a Manhattan concktail for about .63 total.
faous people who drank OldCrow include Ulysses Grant and hunter Thompson. It in mentioned in songs by tom waits and the beastie boys.
the lifetime savings could be very very substantial.

ParticipantThe time to buy is as they say when there is blood in the streets…but I don’t think we’ve seen more than a bit of pus in the gutter.

ParticipantAll I can say is that optimism about a downturn as a buying opportunity means there’s an underlying certainty things are always going to rebound higher still which may not be the way the whole thing goes down.

ParticipantTang and freeze dried ice cream are an affront to the creator sort of.

Participantreally, nowehere on earth is that great, because, as G.d said,
“Cursed is the ground because of you;
through painful toil you will eat food from it
all the days of your life.
It will produce thorns and thistles for you,
and you will eat the plants of the field.
By the sweat of your brow
you will eat your food
until you return to the ground,
since from it you were taken;
for dust you are
and to dust you will return.”scaredyclassic

Participanti keep my loupe on me all the time anyway….
just really excited to have a toiletry bag. always think i can just grab stuff and go, but i always forge ta basic, like floss, or toothpaste. need a bag, stocked and ready…
dumb not to have such a bag ready togo all these years.
but now, i have one…things are gonna be different now for ol’ scaredy.
i can’t ask the front deskguy for stuff cause sometimes on businessy seminar meeting travel i sleep at the youth hostel. yeah, i know, but its only $20 bucks a night…vs. like 200 at some of these joints. if you don’t mind sleeping in a room with 8 other guys, some of whom are young drunk australian guyson holiday, some of whom snore and fart their way through the night, it really is quite the bargain. i don’t mind. i ahve earplugs…
i’d rather ahve an extra few hundred bucks at the end of the weekend…than sleep ina nice hotel…it’s called a “youth” hostel but there’s not technically a n age limit. it’s for all those youthful in spirit and cheap in pocketbook…

Participantseemed like a good deal at 109. it was so clean and new. except we managed to clog the toilet, just like we do at home….that’s our family specialty…

Participant

I agree, young people can have very nice qualities and settling down with someone won’t be easy for all the reasons you mention. Can be a wild time…or a lonely time, almost any kind of time…and not always easy to find middle ground. I am glad to be through it.
I always have trouble with that word “sacrifice” as it relates to family. I know it’s true….but it doesn’t seem like something one wants to think about….like it’s selfish to look at it that way….I sort of look at it like tradeoffs and just forget about it, but it might be better the other way….you could be proud of the sacrifices you make I guess, or something.
I could be sacrificing myself by watching a terrible movie with them right now.
Journey to Mysterious Island. I already told my wife the only thing in it for me is looking at the girl… she said it’s o.k. she doesn’t mind.,,good to mitigate the sacrifices.
I think my wording of sacrifice is maybe not the correct term or I view it as just a word I used. Like many studies says that people with kids are not as happy as people without, but a lot of folks (me included) would probably not give up the kids to say, have a “happier” life as defined by what society or scientists call “happy”.
Maybe it’s part of the overall life experience to me and we all know kids are an insane part of life…but like the article below says, having kids has it’s own ups and downs and higher stress points with the relationship (since it’s not just you and a spouse anymore) so things get strained, not to mention time is completely shot…at least at the early 1-5/6 years till full time school.

But yeah, calling it sacrifice isn’t really the right word, even to me, but more of a life choice I guess.
Sorta funny in the article that states if parents had to choose, the wife would pick the kids over the husbands 🙂 while husbands would choose the wife.
Guess we know who dies if it’s the kids or the husband if a choice had to be made. :)
in the event of a dicorce, earlier times, the kids wouldve selected my wife, probably instinctively knowing she would pick them to live over me.

4 drinks a week is about right on the high end.
At the high end?
What’s wrong with a glass of wine at dinner say five out of seven days? America is waaaaay too Puritanical about drinking.
Actually, a glass of wine with dinner 5 days a week is ABOUT like 4 drinks a week but it is not like 4×7 drinks a week, which I was saying is probably approaching alcoholism.
4×7 is a bit much. but if your wife is contractually obligated to drink the other half of the bottle of wine, and she breaches, short of litigation what other options are there?

Participantwel we stayed att the best western with some visiting Elks, and frankly it was pretty awesome. there was a hot tub of sorts, some beds, aa person who cleaned up in between our sleeptimes, a tv, a table…free crappy breakfast. on the whole…it was way worth 109 a night. maybe ill just stick with one house at a time. i think its all my tender nerves can take
