ParticipantIf we all stopped eating meat I think everything would be ok. Maybe it’s the planet that fails before our consumption system.

It’s important to me to have frequent awesome poops. I do. I bet my poops are in the top 10 perc. Of the world. I use the Bristol Scale to judge my poo.i can run a fast mile and do my Krav maga. I love my kids as much as,anyone in the world loves their kids. I sleep super well, probably again in top 10 perc worldwide.
The things, that matter are not getting rated.

ParticipantWas just talking about std. Of living with someone. Life isthe same regardless of what he makes. Basically all the money’s spent, it’s just slightly nicer or more stuff but life itself seems about the same. Not more or less comfortable…not appreciably better stuff…. I don’t see any actual difference in my life making 50k or 125k. It feels the exact same. I have a different adress, newer car…but it doesnt feel better…Std. Of living changes , to matter, needs to involve some pain or appreciable difference in Daily reality. Without that it’s all the same. The same standard of living.
I bet the Greeks will be roasting goats and drinking wine and having sex about the same regardless. Dance and fight and laugh the same.
Maybe none of this crap really matters unless you’re making nothing. In which case you’re s rewed anyway.

ParticipantWas thinking about THE ANDY GRIFFITH SHOW. Loved it. But really where’s the black people. Barney and Andy would been thumping the crap out of any darks kinned folk if they had the temerity to appear on screen with actual thoughts. That show soothed anerica as the civil rights movement got going. Couldn’t be a faker view of southern cops I think.
Now we internalize the lessons of andy. That he’s a good fair fella. Just ignore that boot he and barney have on the black man’s throat.

ParticipantBoth desireable. I’d buy whichever is prettier to you. Premiums change on coins. Buffalo looks cooler to me.

Participant

It’s healthy to have slacker peers as well as super-type-A achiever peers. Slackers teach valuable lessons to kids as well. How to relax and enjoy life, not run like a headless chicken from organized activity to activity. Play some pickup ball after school. Go to the woods, crack open some beers, and hang out with members of the correct gender.
Success shouldn’t consist of 50+ hour weeks, day-in-day-out with a week or two off per year, only to be made redundant in 20 years and die of a heart attack in 30. Teaching kids how to be type-A heart-attack fodder in their teens is awful.
He played an evil psychopath, but I always found Steve Buscemi’s quote in Con Air to be very apt…
“Now you’re talking semantics. What if I told you insane was working 50 hours a week in some office for 50 years… at the end of which they tell you to piss off?
Ending up in some retirement village… hoping to die before suffering the indignity of trying to make it to the toilet on time.
Wouldn’t you consider that to be insane?”
I don’t think most American kids need to worry about working too hard. That’s part of the problem. Second, there’s nothing cool about throwing away good opportunities. If you want to teach your kids that’s ok, go for it. There’s’ a dozen or so other kids that will gladly take that away who wants it worse than your kid that isn’t motivated..and then you can worry and complain about wealth inequality … Assuming you aren’t wealthy and aren’t leaving a sizable trust fund for your kid…..which since we’re talking about economic “diversity” I would assume that is the case…
My kid loved the one high school elective class he took with all the stoners and slackers. It was eye opening. Too much AP

ParticipantBetter income potential and stability in plumbing. I would cry if my kid went to law school I’d rejoice if he pursued plumbing.
