ParticipantWhy can’t we have a little crash spinning when we have mountains of bubble spinning. Read the info and believe what you will.
Why should the crash advocates be any more balanced than the bubble advocates?
I expect some major bankruptcies coming. No one in 1989 would have predicted that nearly the entire S&L industry would disappear within a decade, but it did.

ParticipantTo you guys out there, you may not believe it, but I’m trying not to be partisan on the Iraq issue.
1) I hope that we succeed because for our national interest we NEED to succeed. I just don’t have any confidence in the decider for making the right decisions.
2) I’m mad at Bush for getting us into Iraq. It’s like buying an overpriced house in 2004. It seemed like a good investment at the time, but now you own the POS. What’re you gonna do? Rationalize the decision and keep it for the long run? Or sell now and loose big bucks? Either way the prospects are grim. Bush put all of our foreign policy eggs in that POS basket. He bet the farm and now we’re up the creek because of that.
3) When I hear George Will and David Brooks criticizing the Administration on Iraq, I know that we’re running out of options in Iraq.
4) I’m supporting a change of direction rather than a stay-the-course policy. To me that’s like the condo-converters hoping for an uptick in the market by 2008.

ParticipantIs North County Jim the same as Jim Klinge who said that “superior” properties will be insulated and only drop 10-15%? I respect Jim who as, a realtor, is shooting straight with us; however, ever since he wrote that blob, I question his motives. Does he want buyers to feel confident about buying those “superior” properties?

ParticipantThe spy agencies were never sure that there were WMDs in Iraq. The Administration decided to act on assumptions; in essense putting their doctrine of preemption into practice.
The intelligence agencies latest report cast doubt upon the effectiveness of the Iraq intervention.
The more press coverage, the better informed the public will become. Give data to the people and they’ll make up their own minds. It’s like real estate. We need to stop living in a bubble.

ParticipantWhat strikes me most is the hubris. Yeah, the seller NEEDS the profit because he wants a bigger house with a pool! What makes him think that buyers should bail him out?

ParticipantShinning headlights into the house means bad Feng-Shui = bad karma for the people living there.

ParticipantI agree with McCain “that we need to prevail in Iraq and that, if we fail, then our problems will be much more complicated.”
However, it doesn’t mean that the hair-brained people who got us in shouldn’t pay a political price for their actions. I say that it’s time to let someone else fix the mess because the people in charge now are screwing it up even further.

ParticipantIf you tell him that you’re a renter, he’ll know that you’re a “potential” buyer.
How about telling him that you’ll be leaving San Diego soon and never plan to buy here? He’ll stop pestering you.
A good salesman never takes no for an answer. To him that an opportunity to make a sale.

Participant“What prevents the uninsured from coming back to the ER for treatment of the chronic disease?”
Because emergency room is for emergencies. Say that you have cancer but no current symptoms. You need ongoing medication. If you showed up at the emergency room, they would tell you, sorry, but you need to make an appointment with at a doctor’s office. Also, say that you have sexually transmitted disease of some kind with no current symptoms but you need medication to control it. They would also tell you, sorry, no can do. If you have an infection, they’ll give me meds to control that infection but subsequent follow up until your next infection.
The emergency room is for treating obvious symptoms that need to be taken care of right away. No current symptoms = no treatment.
The end result is that we have millions of people in this country walking around with who knows what kinds of diseases. Those diseases are incubating unchecked in those people, waiting for the opportunity to spread. The people affected are not just illegals but legals and citizens alike (all those with no health insurance).

ParticipantI admire Clinton for being smart and articulate. He can actually remember details of years ago (22 men he cited in one example). I met Clinton years ago when he gave the commencement address at UCSD and I still have his picture in my living room.
Bush, on the other hand, speaks of good and evil.
Yeah, the right got Clinton on the bj issue. But what’s the big deal? Why is Bush hanging out almost everyday with the Dominatrix, Condi Rice? She’s is not married. She works out everyday and has got a great bod, ha.ha.
Shouldn’t we have fixed the Tabiban problem before creating a new front with Iraq. Quote from NY Times article: “the intelligence estimate, an assessment by America’s 16 intelligence agencies, found that the war in Iraq, rather than stemming the growth of terrorism, had helped fuel its spread across the globe.”

ParticipantHere’s the link on youtube.com.
It’s was brave of Clinton to go on Fox.
Interesting that Rupert Murdock is donating money to the Clintons. One thing I remember well from the 2000 election out of the Republican candidate’s mouth is “no nation building.”

ParticipantBelow is an excerpt from an article in today’s San Diego Union Tribune about Verano. That’s a 16% drop in 1 year! I’d say that nearly everyone who bought in 2005 is now underwater. Let’s see what year 3-5 gives us.
————————————-
An analysis by The San Diego Union-Tribune of completed sales at Verano, a 514-unit project in University City also developed by Crescent Heights, found that the selling price of a 934-square-foot, two-bedroom unit averaged $440,000 in May through August 2005.
This year, the same-size unit at Verano sold for an average price of $371,000. The price-cutting strategy appears to be working. Verano sold 23 condos in August, according to county deed records.

ParticipantIn my view, there’s nothing more selfish than procreation. The selfless thing to do is not procreate so we leave the earth cleaner than when we arrived. The right thing to do is adopt and care for a poor unwanted child.
I find that progressives are quite open minded and accepting of other people’s viewpoints. It’s the puritans who poison friendships by asking people to “repent.” The preachers of America aren’t much different from the Mullahs of Islam.
As for the religious Christians going to the sex clubs, my friend is a psychologist and he tells me that under the surface of propriety, people are “guilty” of all kinds of “sins” (married men having gay sex, adultery, drugs, etc…). I believe that the incident of sinful acts is sky high in conservative areas. Anyone remember tele-evangelist Jim Baker? Look at Rush Limbaugh. He’s the voice of the conservative movement. What a good example to follow!
Progressives have weakness for sure but we don’t pretend to be hollier-than-thou.
I have to say that I enjoy my European friends the most. We can talk, disagree, never feel personally attacked and always remain good friends.
jd, watch out, a friend of mine dad’s is a minister. My friend moved away to the big city for college, “sinned,” and no longer believes in God. To this day, he still doesn’t have the guts to tell his parents. The parents believe they have the perfect son. And the son is hiding the biggest part of his life from his family.
