Participant

No, entitlement state is not the problem. Just need to enforce existing immigration laws (Stop all discussion of amnesty and make E-verify federal law) and the problem will be significantly contained. Ideally birth right citizenship would be abolished but that’s not going to happen.
Correct.
Incorrect.
The entitlement state incentivizes these people to cross deserts in the summer.
In a way, the entitlement state causes tragic deaths.
The current laws are being enforced and that’s also why they are coming here-watch my opening video for an explanation.

Your right to your religious beliefs end where my rights begin.
State CAR and scaredy (as I recall) from the Altar of the 1st Church of Progressive Secularism.
Of course it’s not likely that CAR and scaredy even realize that they’re even participating in a religion.
But they are. The official state religion in fact.
Why do you think your “religious freedoms” entitle you to dictate to others what they should do or believe?
I was about to ask you the same question. This reminds me of the circular reasoning argument you thought i was trapped in 2 weeks ago.

Pretty horrifying that we as a society are secular eh? And governed by reason…
Is this reason you speak of known as science? Or at least backed and validated by science?

Shutdown the entitlement state (aka wealth redistribution) and this border/immigration crisis largely goes away.

ParticipantProtester shouting matches in Murrieta videos (they play in sequence):

look if they were sincere, it wouldnt be right to make fun of them. but if they sincerely believe int he sacredness of life, after they’re done protesting all the needless deaths in our pointless economicwars, after they’re done campaigning against the death penalty and sitting vigils to prevent executions
Hobby Lobby like anyone else corp or govt has to chose their battles, and this one was theirs to fight I guess.

Definitely not shinning city on the hill.
Those are your people in the Temecula area. I don’t know them.
I would expect this type of idiotic comment from a phony San Diego snob. 1st of all the protest was in Murrieta, not Temecula/area.
I have to admit I took a certain pleasure in witnessing the eviction of the self-entitled San Diego idiots who were briefly my neighbors.
They were run out of Temecula on a rail, back to San Diego where they belong.

Participantscaredy you seem to have a particular intolerance to those who seek to express their religious beliefs.
You don’t know if there is a god or not.

Now, was this an unexpected consequence that Obama had not considered, or an ultra-sly attempt to start a confrontation to ensure Hispanics turn out en massed to vote Democratic in the 2014 elections?
I am leaning towards the ultra-sly theory myself. And the Murrieta protestors are playing right into his hands….right smack into Obama’s plan…
Witness the other side that came out to counterprotest.
And I agree with scaredy. The original protesters showed enormous lack of class. Sometimes we forget that we are a nation of immigrants.
And before anyone stands on the “but they are illegal” dogma, well I would be more sympathetic to that argument if Boehner would let immigration reform come up for a vote. But by blocking reform, all goodwill I have for the “illegal” argument evaporates.
I am leaning towards the ultra-sly theory as well. It could be that part of the plan was to incite race wars, and from what I can tell the plan seems to be working pretty well.
As far as being a nation of immigrants, to an extent that’s true but I would guess that most in the US are not immigrants.
We are supposed to be a nation of borders and laws; unless of course those laws and borders stand in the way of political ambition.

the goal of prviding some level of insurance to its citizens is not gov. running roughshod over everyone in its path…and the characterization of the debate this way is perhaps a good example of the tribal diviisions in this country and how fundamentally we do not give a crap about our fellow citizens so long as we have ours…
The SCOTUS decision wasn’t a defeat for healthcare; it was a victory for freedom of religion.
Actually, I’m not sure if that’s true; I just opposed it on an economic/anti-socialist basis.

Participant
what’s the big deal? contraceptives are so cheap. Just give it out for free to anyone who wants it. Like toilet paper in public restrooms.
Only dipshit would take issue with that.
ok dipshit – if they’re so cheap then they shouldn’t have any issues buying rubbers for themselves.

Participant
An endless string of litigation and legislation to define what “healthcare” should be. Instead of putting our efforts into making it actually affordable, we just decided to make others pay for it.
Having to pay for someone else’s rubbers is called welfare, not healthcare.
Of course, the case will be made: if we don’t buy the rubbers we’ll end up paying for it anyway when the fatherless baby’s start showing up.
This country is screwed up.
