ParticipantIt’s a plain 530I without any of the packages. Only thing going for it was it had only 45K miles on it and nary a ding. The insurance adjuster first gave it a $7K repair estimate at which point I thought for sure it was going to be totaled. I had it towed to repair shop and they found additional things that would put the repair bill at about $11K and Allstate ok’d it! With $11K cash seems like it’d be perfect time to get a new car and avoid the inevitable money pit that all old bimmers become.

Participant“It is no more dangerous then riding a bike on cement…”
I heartily agree. Imo riding on a trail is waaay safer than riding on cement- no preoccupied drivers to worry about.

ParticipantIs bitcoin something that can be corrupted with a few well-placed broken knee caps or horses heads?

Participant

afx, so people shouldn’t worry about gangs of teens to randomly target strangers just for kicks?
people shouldn’t be outraged over these senseless acts of violence?
You could have asked that same question throughout any time period in history. Go ahead, be worried. Same as it ever was.
That was kinda my point- we are NOT evolving to a higher plane where we can trust each other blindly and things have always been this way and shall remain so for the foreseeable future.

Granted, there is still the issue of acceptance for goods/services, but that has been gradually changing and will likely continue to in the near future.
Bitcoin is perhaps just the 1st iteration of open source money.
Yes, the dollar does have the world’s most powerful military behind it, which is why the world is and will continue to move away from the dollar.
More and more countries around the world have realized peace is a lot cheaper and more preferable to endless war.
Humans are evolving to a new higher enlightened level of consciousness, and in this Brave New World Bitcoin fits perfectly. The dollar doesn’t.
Oh I don’t know about evolving to a higher level of consciousness – all it seems to take is a power outage, natural disaster, group motorcycle ride…and we seem to behave like animals. Would not pristine Wall St. also come up with new blatant ways to plunder our bitcoins if not for threat of punishment backed by guns? Sad to say but imo, there is still a place in this world for guns and a powerful military and the world is same as it ever was.
And so begs the question-what would a bitcoin be worth in a zombie apocalypse? I’d say less than paper money and waaay less than gold or guns.outtamojo
ParticipantFor those with Costco Amex… will the warranty extension work with things like water heaters and disposals and other things that tend to crap out on my rentals?

Gloria Allred is making herself look like more and more of an ass with every passing day.
She wins cases and makes money. The law is the law. Good for her is she an make a convincing case and win.
I think there’s more to it.
Yes the bikers are asses. But Lien likely did something to antagonize them. Lien probably felt big in his SUV and probably bumped into one of them.
Let the crazies pass. No need to get riled up because they other guys might get angrier than you.
Yeah, why don’t we all just bend over and let them cornhole us while their at it – don’t wanna make them angry. Seriously, why are you guessing about what happened…why not get informed and stick to facts?

Participant
I’m going to go waaaay out on a limb here and open myself up to lots of flamage, but I don’t think racism is necessarily taught at all. IMHO, racism *can* be taught, but it can also come about as the result of personal experience with people from other races.
If a white man was mugged by black men on three occasions (but never by a white man, even though he lives in a predominantly white neighborhood), I’m willing to bet he would end up with “racist” tendencies. A general dislike of certain (perhaps violent, vulgar, or otherwise offensive) behaviors found in other cultures that are linked to race might also make one perceive that race in a different way…and feel some disdain for them, generally.
This is why, if people are serious about reducing or eliminating racism, it’s imperative that leaders of the black community work toward reducing those behaviors among their “youth” that makes others view them in such a negative way. It’s time for a more honest understanding of where “racism” comes from.
Lol yur limb is but a twig imo. Here’s a limb for you- in this nation, the beleaguered so called white male has created and refined arguably the best place in the world for anyone of any color, sex or creed to live. The touchiness they feel whenever they are broadly classified or associated with racism is the same feeling the black kids get when they walk into trendy neighborhoods.
