ParticipantA little anecdote, close to home for me, coming soon to some of us here:
So my sister-in-law on the East coast goes in to the local doc in a box urgent care. New patient so no medical history so you get interviewed. She disclosed she was a stay at home mom, took care of kids and elderly parents- taking them places and translating for them. (they are Korean). During her exam, male doctor starts talking about Trump and then ranting about immigrants out of the blue and then tells sil her parents should go back to Korea if they can’t speak English.
Did he always speak to his patients like that, or did he become emboldened by the prospect of institutionalized covert racism coming back in favor?
If he had just taken the time to learn about her parents, he would discover how they legally came to the country with nothing and built a mini empire of laundromats and liquor stores. They do speak some English, heavily accented, but they do the best they can. Are they not the embodiment of what was the American dream? And yet the emboldened racist can only see them as foreigners who don’t belong.
Yah, sure, Trump had nothing to do with this and was nowhere near the building so how why was this his fault..outtamojo
Participant
To someone closer to center , these troll protestors and the people behind them are as embarrassing and at least as dangerous as Trump. In fact , after the republican primary is over , if he wins, Donald Trump will be the candidate closer to center by far. WIth the restraints the other branches will put on him he may be part of the most reasonable government we can have for the next 4 years. Until I see a Sadaam Hussien like clearing of congress, I am not believing all this Hitler rhetoric.
Yes, Trump himself may be controlled legally by the other branches but what about the thugs he will enable by institutionalizing his attitudes towards his list of non-favored outgroups? This is what those of us with non-white skin fear the most – for me, going back to a time when all I had to do was walk into a room, see the smirks form, and then… here it comes…someone blurts out a caricature of how they think Asians speak. Thank goodness for PC at least it’s not done to my face anymore.

Participant
Well, I have to congratulate Trump. He’s managed to undo any sort of progress America has made towards equality.
Welcome back to the 50ies-60ies….

You know the shit is really bad when even Faux News is not spinning this in a positive light.
If what the say is true about “Lead by Example”, we’re really screwed if Donald is President.
I’m sorry to say this, but the GOP deserve to lose the white house in 2016. Any but that would be terribly disappointing.
Sad yes. Imo anytime someone spouts “make America great AGAIN” what they really mean is America was great(er) when ethnic minorities and women could be discriminated against with no recourse.

ParticipantYah I was in Atlantic City last summer – felt like a funeral home. Point I was trying to make was that another poster believed that as soon as Trump became President, he would immediately recognize he was a noob and take time to learn and hire from the more seasoned. Nothing in his past, or his make-up tells me that he would ever admit weakness or subvert his alpha male persona to ever learn from anyone. The Casino fiasco was just more proof (to me) – he wasn’t smart or humble enough to maybe poach a few industry veterans to help with his casinos. Heck, those were the apparently the best of times for the casino industry, I’d hate to see how his businesses fare during the tough times.

Participant

I understand the basic appeal at a visceral level, but do most of them not recognize every trait of their worst boss ever whenever he wants his way?
Do they truly not realize that “you’re fired” would be applied to them before the end of the first day if they ever set forth in a Drumpf business?
I’m genuinely curious as I don’t believe the majority are overtly racist or total suck-ups. Are they just oblivious and uninformed as to who Drumpf really is? Or like Drumpf, are they just a bully at heart wishing they could throw money and their ‘weight’ around?
This is “crazy talk,” NSR. All this huffing and puffing and posturing on the bully pulpit on the part of Trump is going to be so over if he should ever get elected. He has stated numerous times (when asked) that he plans on selecting a running mate based upon his or her “governmental experience.” After his inauguration (if that should actually happen), Trump will follow around the heads of the various Federal agencies in the Capitol and the Pentagon like a puppy dog for the first few weeks/months of his presidency and learn in-depth how “the cow ate the cabbage” (as they say in TX/OK, lol). He KNOWS he’s not a bureaucrat and won’t be able to successfully effect any change at all if he doesn’t understand in great detail how the helm of our great nation works.
People are reading wa-a-a-ay too much into Trump’s off-the-cuff statements made strictly for “effect.” If you’re really interested in learning his positions on the issues, visit his website:

Wait- how do we know when he is speaking off the cuff and when he really means it? and how do YOU happen to know?
Hard to imagine Trump all of a sudden being a puppy dog. Doesn’t he bill himself as anti-establishment? Why would he follow and learn the ways of THE establishment if he is ANT-establishment?outtamojo
ParticipantI thought libs were in favor of higher minimum wages and wanted all blue collar to Unionize so they can rise up against their oppressors and grab a more equal slice of pie.

ParticipantValue seems to be in mid- high to higher end these days. I see lower end stuff being offered for what used to be higher end ask prices. Would it be a good move to sell the condos and put that money into something higher end or at least more prime? Something like a house in a choice area I could rent out for awhile and give to the kids if they want to live in that area. I wish I had the guts back then to use 15 year mortgages on my rentals.

Participant
From his purple-tie rah-rah video after the Nevada caucus, Trump appears to have lost a few pounds in recent weeks. It’s possible that he has gotten a clue and is toting a personal trainer/dietition in his entourage.
Lol- me personally I don’t ascribe moral implications to being overweight.

Participant
Well. he definitely seems to have the personality of getting people to hate and get others to feel it’s ok and excusable. There is one other person that was able to do that.
Hitler.
White people have nothing to worry about. Lucky you.
God help the rest of us.
Actually no, Hitler and Trump are not the only ones able to get people to follow and hate. This ability in fact is quite formulaic- google research authoritarian personalities and their followers.
I finally figured out Trump’s one redeeming quality- he is opposed by the Koch brothers.outtamojo
