ParticipantWater seeks its own level. Plenty of good men and women…even the kids today you can kind of see who will make good partners and who is a disaster. Of course there are always some surprises.

Thanks.BG, you could be missing something because you are making a lot of assumptions…it’s that simple. Not to say I have a crystal ball.

ParticipantEven wars don’t need the underclass anymore, not to the extent of any past wars. That would have to be history’s most cynical war..to get rid of people. How does that compare to food stamp riots?

ParticipantIt cracks me up how the moderate haves think that they are experts at delayed gratification and pulling themselves up by the bootstraps and that people who start at the bottom in wealth, education, family constitution, environment, and social status are just not exercising their choices properly. I know everybody battles through losses in life , but some people have nothing to lose, ever…pretty much no tools. We are not good at allocating these tools or don’t seriously care to.
I look at my fairly well to do neighbors, very decent people, but with a few exceptions, I don’t see how they did anything they weren’t fairly groomed for and they certainly don’t seem to do delayed gratification. Lots of people treating themselves like spoiled children from all walks of life. What would happen if their choices crashed to almost nothing?

ParticipantI also read that the filters should be tossed. I have two houses with them, i put them in myself , they did not come with filters….I think they are called effluent filters….by the time it’s really going to your leach field it should not contain solids. Don’t know. If mine ever does clog i know exactly what to do about it. You can still see where all the leach lines are because it in weeds and they grow better over each line.
Do you know how/where leach field was blocked and what was done about it.
Did you have a universally low functioning leach field, or a block in a pipe somewhere? If it was just a block that got fixed, your field could be fine.

Participant
septic systems are kind of cool.
So, do you still think it needs to be cleaned every 3 years? I have heard of people going 15 years even with lousy systems. You can check by wrapping a stick in cotton cloth to at least the depth of your tank and dipping it….the sludge layer and the grease layer will show how deep they are on the cotton. I have to do that again soon but after 3 years it was not near to capacity with sludge or grease.
How big is the tank? Mine is 1,200 gallons. No filter. We don’t use the garbage disposal all scraps get composted, fed to animals or thrown in the trash.

ParticipantI don’t know much about Rumi, Scaredy.. He was Semitic right?
What I have read appeals to my inner hippie. Not sure what to do with it other than that. …be amazed by the poetry.

ParticipantPeople are tired of wars.
There are more Semitic people who hate Israel than there are Jews.I completely agree with the standing army idea, Scaredy, always have. I know that creates a debt, but how deep does that go to the average joe? It’s hard to know what the benefits were. It’s getting way easier to criticize Israel publicly.

ParticipantMy current car cost 7,000 and so far we have gotten 150,000 miles from it with minor repairs most of which I did myself. Next time I won’t spend more than 5k. I don’t sweat cars and house and pretty much never have except for the sweat equity along the way which was large. I have the worst car and still a pretty simple house and I don’t waste time with curb appeal….so shoot me.
Tomorrow I am really going to really buck the system….the kids on my son’s soccer team are going to get an apple (from my neighbors tree) and a hardboiled egg from my chickens for their AYSO “mandatory snack”… usually it’s 3 or 4 items of pure kid pleasing commercial snack food garbage . That heroic act of defiance alone will create a psychic lift that will get me through at least a week in fine spirits. I hope my kids don’t get beat up at school for it. Maybe I’ll home school them.
