Participant23109VC here is a link to a book about prety easy built in projects. I am posting it since you mentioned wanting to build closet organizers.
Really easy and inexpensive closet organizers. They are pretty basic but very functional. The section that the cover photo is from covers how to make them from MDF.These are paint grade. I have built them in a couple of houses including the one I live in now. You can buy baskets and bins and build the shelves and cubby holes around the sizes you find or get the baskets and bins that fit later. If you like the project I can give you some pointers that would make it even easier. Just for example an example of the cost, a twelve foot wide wall closet would be about $250 for materials including paint.

ParticipantUnless escrow did your proration calculations from an earlier date you should not be paying any additional on those items you mentioned. Was an earlier closing scheduled and then postponed?
As far a paying off your loans goes..all I can think of is that your lender(servicer) is is on the east coast and funds have to be acknowleged by a representative to complete the transaction. Perhaps that representative had already gone home. Maybe your escrow just dropped the ball. You might want to clarify and demand they pay any additional interest due, if that is the case.
There is definitely no grand profit scheme by your escrow company.

Check out the sales history on this one. It sold for 925k and after going the REO route is in escrow from a list or 449,900. Unfortuately that site doesn’t have pictures. The MLS has pictures. It seems like someone was going to remodel the home and never got finished…pretty popular theme too.I look at buildable lots often. There is a lot on Mt. Helix with the foundation about half formed up that is now for sale. People understand that the endgame doesn’t look so good .
With a falling market you have to wait until these abandoned projects are really discounted or risk working for free. I wouldn’t mind overhauling that house on Panorama though, if it were not so unlikely to pencil out or If I didn’t care.
