ParticipantNot to ruin anyone’s Sunday brunch but my intuition pestered me about the possibilty of molestation in his private school or church playing a part in Cunanan’s moral decay. Was Bishop’s or and related church if there is one ever said to be involved the molestation scandals that have been brought to light nationwide?

I have a neighbor who makes everyone he disagrees with or dislikes out to be a monster. Sooner or later he disagrees with and dislikes everyone…Sounds like you do that to a degree as well.Most people, regardless of ideology are just about half way decent not too much better and not too much worse than that. I think it helps to lower expectations and just have discussions here and let it go sometimes. Better yet, be willing to concede after a weak point in your presentation then you will be in a better position to challenge the weak points the rest of us make.
By the way, I like a lot of your input to the blog…
and some of that of your detractors as well.

All kids seem “affected somewhat”. Lets just be glad we are dads and not moms.They feel much more guilt about it!
I am sure your children will be fine. I met a guy who was raised in a military family he said they moved every two years and it was the best thing that ever happened because his mom taught them everything there was to know about the various locations. Good luck with the new place.ParticipantCY,

I listen to how determined you are and I have no doubt your day is coming regarding housing. It is so important to do it right the first time and you will.My birthday is on the 4th of July!No School!Never work, Always parties and my kids still believe the fireworks celebrations are for my birthday!
I have long been a fan of Bugs although he ignores all praise. He has set me straight on this blog a couple of times and he does so without anyone knowing he has done it. Quite the gentleman. Please don’t contrast that with my style!
Cy & Bugs, I do want to stay here long term. My wife and I agree that we do not want to move our kids more than twice in their school years. I grew up around Ojai Ca, this area Jamul, is just like it in many respects. I get to be relatively close to what I still consider a great city that I had lived in since 1980.
There is a big difference, as I am sure you are aware between my 800K property depreciating by 50% and your former 2M+ house going down 50%! Thats a lot of red ink. My lot is also technically splittable but it will take many miracles and almost the price of new lot to get it through planning.Maybe in 20 years it will present some better opportunity but I am not counting on it. I can still build a small second house with normal permits and something like 30,000 sq.ft. of workshops barns and other agricultural type buildings!Anyway my child wants to look up Thomas the tank engine and he has been waiting patiently, for a four year old.

ParticipantThe article is basically an observation of our get and spend society. Which I just don’t get. I liked the comparision of the McMansion to the Hummer. Of course many of the Hummers(huge cars and trucks)were financed with Heloc money from the McMansion.
