I am not sure about San Diego, but in LA county the average cost per year to own a home is $60,000.00 compared to $34,000.00 to rent that same home. My friend is trying to sell his home in San Diego for $1,500,000.00. The cost per month for the new owner would be approximately $7,800.00 per month using a conventional loan. His home would rent for approximately $4,500.00 per month.

I would say that if you are concerned, put in a 10 % sliding stop loss on your entire combined investment portfolio. If you reach the stop loss, sell and go into the safest fixed income investments available. I think the government will continue to prop up low risk corporate bonds.

Nothing changed for me. Half of my money is in cash. The other half is in equities, bonds, precious metals and my paid off condominium. I took no action. The biggest hit I took was a beating on my High Yield Bond ETFs (Junk Bonds).
I am just pretending that I lost all my money with the exception of the cash and my condominium so that I will not worry about the other assets for at least another 10 years. I actually hope my condominium’s value decreases so that I can reassess for a lower property tax. On the bright side, my cash is worth more now at least for the short term.

I calculated my 2018 taxes using the 2017 rules and the 2018 rules. Using the current rules, 2018, I saved just over $3,000.00. That $3,000.00 will be injected into the private sector via rounds of golf.

I am very disappointed in our Mayor not to mention our Governor. Our Governor is a Democrat for which I am not surprised by the overspending and over taxation. But, our Mayor is a Republican who acts like a Democrat. Since our Mayor took office, all I have seen is my property tax go up along with other taxes. At least Carl David DeMaio speaks out against taxes.
