Participant
Leveraged Gold ETF and TSLA up big this morning so took profits on those and sitting 40% cash in the trading account waiting to see what happens next few days.
Interesting. I reduced my day-trading account from 100% stocks to about 50/50 today; and I also moved to all cash for my 401K. I have concerns on the next coming days/weeks – transition at the WH, planned protests this week, tension with Iran and the potentially bad news relating to the vaccines. If any of those concerns became a reality I expect the market to react negatively.

ParticipantInvestment wise, 2020 ended up being better than I expected. The numbers:
Overall: 18.5%
Day-trading: 35% (15% came from the premiums for selling calls options)
Best/Worst Holdings: TSLA/SLBEverything being considered I am quite happy with the results. Especially how little I was stressed out considering what a volatile year it was.
Happy New Year everyone. Let’s hope for a better year in 2021.

ParticipantI’d say the likelihood of a selloff has just gone up significantly. We’re already up about 12% for Nov. How much higher will it go?
I liquidated one of my investments today. I will continue to sell into the runups and then wait the opportunity to get back in.

Romney is actually a pretty decent guy. a few of us rudely interrupted his dinner one time in LJ because a colleague of mine who was a huge fan (democrat moderate friend) spotted him. He asked him if he was planning on running in 2020.. Romney laughed…
I have always liked Romney. Always liked McCain too.
They do their own thinking and don’t take a position just because it is in their party platform. They chart their own course which I admire greatly.
Mostly agree. Especially with McCain. I do have some reservation with Romney on how he made money with Bain Capital by buying distressed companies, laid people off and sell the parts for profits. He ran for president on “bring overseas jobs back” platform. I think he would have made a better president than what we have the last 4 years.
As for McCain, every true American, regardless of their political views, should have been disgusted the way he was mocked by the prez as a POW.

Participant
It really is funny. Science trolled Trump.
POETIC JUSTICE. He didn’t believe in science.
Here’s a conspiracy theory, it’s not a coincidence that this news is released a few days after the election OR IS IT?

Participant
Pfizer vaccine 90% effective. Biden getting sh*t done already !!!
Thank you Joe for saving the world!
You’re a funny dude. Market is definitely crazy, not just today but the 10% or so gain last week when it appeared that Biden is likely going to win. I am curious what happened to the belief that if Biden wins the stock market will go to hell?
Bottom line, what to do? Buy, sell or hold? I am at 60 stocks, 40 cash.

Participant
I had trouble getting into trading account at schwab.
I kept getting “symbol” not valid while I was trying to sell carnival cruises in the first half hour…it cost me an extra 60cents/share.
I was pissed…but then again, I wasn’t expecting a 1 day 36% gain. makes no sense whatsoever. Pfe is only up 6% but carnival up 36%? Err nevermind. I’ll take it …
Same here with schwab. I believe if you call their customer service and complain they usually are more than likely to compensate you for that 60 cents/share “loss”. TDAmeritrade on the other hand had no issues.

ParticipantAnyone else thinks that the video released from the hospital was shot before he got treatment instead of after.
Looks to me like the prez got to the hospital, removed the tie, unbuttoned the collar and read off a prepared message? Can’t help but think that the time the assistants needed to get him camera-ready (off hospital bed, dress up, make up, put on the rug) there would have been a tweetstorm from him. But nothing, nada, zilch. Adding to it, no picture from the hospital to show that everything is going great. ????

Participant
3D: A lot depends on the history of enforcement and how specific the ARC rules are written. For example, in RSF, the Art Jury ( same as an ARC ) has language to not have ‘linear’ rows of plantings. Most tracts do not go into this level of detail and if they don’t have a written rule or history, then challenges usually tips in favor of the owner.
It is conceivable that in this case the ARC is trying to prevent same color schemes in adjacent homes.
All said, the lawyer letter is the most effective way of responding to any HOA complaints.
That sounds about right. In my community the CC&R spelled out the colors and schemes and also that no x number, I think it’s 2, houses in the row should have the same colors and scheme.
I have not threatened my HOA with lawyers before but have used the “cease and desist” words in a couple of my responses to their naggings. It’s actually worked wonder.
Basically, if the OP go by the book and comply with what’s in the CC&R then there shouldn’t be any problems…unless that is….

ParticipantI am not sure what’s the fuss is about. The CC&R should clearly have the house colors and schemes spelled out. I am not sure how the HOA can reject your request if you go by what’s in the CC&R. My understanding is that what’s in the CC&R is “legally” binding, the rest of the noise from the HOA reps and whatnots are just their effing personal opinions. If the color and scheme you picked came straight out of the CC&R then push back nicely using the CC&R as the basis for your argument.
