ParticipantThink back during the begining of the Iraq war….Remember that clown iraqi information minister who was saying all of that B.S. about the Americans are NOWHERE near baghdad ?….Remember him and his stupid smirk ?….Remember how we all laughed thinking he's got a real nasty surprise coming… ?….now replace that image of that Iraqi idiots face in your minds memory with Paulson's face…. telling the world that "housing is already at the bottom"…….Get the picture ?..Nuff said ……
They will tell you that everybody is doing wonderful while people are actually starving in the streets in cold, stark reality….its their job in govt…its called "Spin" and "Propaganda"…its not news…its theater.
Believe 1/3 of what you read and NONE of what you see on the tube.

ParticipantBefore we head back to the "Dark Ages" and then run off on another new "crusade" (Christian Jihad) …watch the film, it doesnt debunk religion (so much anyway) as it points out all the similarities of the many faiths of this planet…..That was only part 1.
If you could have gotten over yourself long enough to see part 2 and part 3 you would have seen the very good connection of "Off Topic" investing information. But no…..You got terrified and you held up your crucifix like it was warding off dracula in a 1940's silent film….you thought you were under attack !…. me thinks he protests too loudly….Is your faith really that weak ? Your faith has NOTHING to do with this information. A little selfish on your part to think it did.
I would consider anyone who doesnt listen to both sides of any argument, foolish, closed minded and generally anal retentive….Information is knowledge, there is no bad knowledge. If you think there is, you need to re think your ideals.
If the shoe fits, wear it, you know which poster you are. This was NOT supposed to be religious reference material, it was for financial knowledge on the inner working of the fed. Take it or leave it, but please lets not turn off the ENTIRE internet because you dont like something

ParticipantAlready saw it, our healthcare is as bad as you all might imagine it is in your worst nightmares, but hey ….its insurance, they make money by collecting premiums…NOT by paying claims….follow the money, pretty simple really, they slop the troughs of both sides of the aisle so no politician is going to be too disagreeable with big pharma…
M. Moore does manipulate the facts to suit his opinions however, but no more than any other public figure in my estimation, but his points are well taken. I think his portrayal of 3rd world countries and other more socialist/communist countries having better healthcare compared to ours is a little (lot) over blown.
If I needed heart surgery, I would want the guy that is the most successful in his trade to do my operation. In a capitalist society, the way people are measured in their success of their profession is by pay…. I want the guy who drives a porsche, not the guy who takes the bus to work.
Good health is NOT a right, its a privilege….Unfortunately for the sick who are poor also, but what can you do ? At some point everybody must take responsibility for themselves, if your sick and your poor, your gonna get worse and maybe die….if your a billionaire like that old fart Amway founder (Jay Van something or other) and you've simply outlived your heart and need a transplant, then your gonna get a new heart, cuz you can "afford" it…simple as that…People in India readily sell their organs for financial gain….Its a HUGE industry over there. Life is onyl precious..if you can afford it.

ParticipantDrop the tithing (silliness in my estimation) and use those funds to pay off your 600 dollar loan….Charity begins at home, either change faiths or drop it all together, or ?….maybe move back to Utah (if your LDS) a job paying 50K per year there will net you A LOT more than 90 K here.
If giving your hard earned money to complete strangers is your idea of feeling good about yourself, then by all means, go for it, but then dont turn right around and bitch about being broke on the Pigginton.
Reminds me of the ol hound dog CRYING cuz his balls hurt when the fact is he is sitting on them…..

ParticipantOh Myyyy……..I love it when "seemingly" somewhat intelligent people start talking to me about religion !!…Just use your imagination when I respond….This news story will add ammo to my debunking of age old myths….Humans used to think the earth was flat too !

ParticipantAny idea how this will affect hedgies that specialize trading in the CDS (credit default swap) ?
I have seen a number of articles on these types of hedge funds that are NOT even based in the USA…I believe they are out of the purview of the SEC in that case, am I correct in assuming this ? ……anybody know any different ?
