Required reading for every man, woman, and child, and taught to understand.
1. Communist Manifesto (Marx)
2. The social contract (Rousseau)
3. Atlas Shrugged (yes, Ayn Rand makes the list)
and most importantly
4. How to win and argument (dave barry)If everyone read and comprehended what these men thought, the world would have functioning government, I am convinced of it…
But alas, this is to much too ask of the american public schools.
I mention Rand, because she provides a position which is completely unexpressed in modern society. She is generally wrong, just like Marx, but she expresses an extreme point of view that people need to consider, to sleep on, and wrestle with!
And I mention Barry, because I am so freaking sick of people mentioning hitler and making crap up…Although the drinking point I suppose has merit.

I have some friends (a couple) who graduated and got credentialed at Cal Poly SLO, they had to move to the outskirts of Visalia (ghetto) to find a teaching job…
[/quote]So yes they are credentialed, and no they would much prefer to live in a nicer area of california. Many, many, many of my college friends and roommates wanted to be teachers, and few of them found jobs.
BTW, from what I have heard (from people who have gone through the credentialing process) getting a credential is kind of a joke. It is more of a bureaucratic hoop than anything. It does not make you a better teacher, only states the obvious (such as don’t smack johnny around when he is being a punk kid).

Entry level teaching jobs…any teaching job is a highly sought after and very competitive job. For reasons of pay, free time, and a feeling of nobility…
