ParticipantThanks for the info SD R,
I and my wife checked out this neighborhood a few weeks ago. The house looks nice inside but there is not much of a yard. Also, parking for guess is difficult. It is encouraging the see prices creeping down $5-10K every month.

ParticipantHere is another house in CV that is under $599K. Even though this house is smaller, it is single story.
Which one would you rather have? A 1236 sq ft. single story or 1615 sq ft two stories house?
Also, you don’t pay HOA for this small house whereas you pay $85 for the other.

My wife really likes this house because of the remodeling they have done and also because of the excellent school district. I wonder how much it costs for adding a bedroom or a patio and whether it is allowed at all?

ParticipantYeah, I and my wife also noticed the tendency. Basically we want to buy something in the low 500s. In 2005 we were looking mostly old and small homes in Mira Mesa and in late 2006 we moved on to the newer and bigger Mira Mesa houses and now suddenly it seems Sorrento Valley is within reach if the price drops 10-15% more. My wife even suggested Carmel Valley because some houses there are listing at $599K and we thought next one or two years those could be in the low 500s.
I guess that is why we need the Case-Shiller index.
