ParticipantI love it here, can’t stand snow.. so I’m staying.
The point of the thread was to point out that I know a few white collar professionals that are leaving, and was wondering if other people do to.
One thing I see in this thread is people that say they love where they live, and how it’s a great decision, but later on in the paragraph they say they will return to San Diego.

ParticipantI’m from WI, I have more people come visit me than all my other friends combined. My coworkers joke about how I’m running a hotel at my place.
They ALL want to live here, but they won’t sacrifice their houses and extra cash to do so. All I have to do is show them the rent and they say “no thanks”. When I show them housing prices, they laugh, my last friend brought a Real Estate magazine home so he could show everyone how crazy it is out here and for a few laughs.
It’s easy to put #1 CA in any poll, but when the rest of the facts are put on paper, hardly anyone is packing for the trip west.

Participantwhen you guys use words like “scary” and “frightening” what are you saying?
Are you nervous that this will be the new plateau and this will now trend sideways for another 30 years? Or that it is a huge fricken mountain on one side, we’ve reached the peak, and now there’s going to be another mountainside going down on the other?

Participantmy friends, 2 white collar workers, are going to leave within 2 years if houses do not become affordable. They love San Diego, but are tired of being priced out for so long. They too did not want to do the crazy mortgage thing.
I never thought they would be leaving, it was a big shock to me. It makes me wonder how many more are thinking like that.
September 11, 2007 at 8:27 AM in reply to: OT: Can anyone recommend a Audi/VW mechanic/specialist (except the stealerships) #84158ibjames
ParticipantI was lucky that my friend back home was a VW mechanic, all I had to do was provide beer and be his tool fetcher when we changed mine. Please post back if you find a good one though, I too will need a good mechanic

ParticipantI have a friend that is refinancing right now, she’s getting out of her 7yr arm that is about to adjust. I have another friend that is going into foreclosure, so I’m sure there is a lot of activity still in the pipe.

Participantmy friend had a job opening at work for a scheduling/event planner. I can’t remember the number, but they had more applications for that position than ever before, the number exceeded any previous application numbers by a landslide. Most of them were realtors/brokers
We have a position open and a guy applied from Accredited Lenders, he said their IT shop has been getting chopped consistently because so many branches are closing up. They have so much equipment and hardly any users. He’s trying to bail before they let him go

ParticipantI grew up sharing a room, but when kids become teenagers it becomes pretty rough
