I am in same boat
Looking at new Lennar construction homes in Texas cost a fraction of what San Diego even the “armpit” Inland Empire cost gets me convinced to move within 2 years if prices do not drop enough.
If the inland empire is an “armpit”, what’s Texas? Sweaty testicles?
Texas not that bad
There are more jobs in Dallas area than in the Inland Empire and weather not much different. I think its plain stupid that people commute 2 hours from Inland Empire to San Diego just to own a home.
San Diego is certainly a superior place to live compared to Dallas if you can afford it but Riverside? Hemet? Perris?
I agree that San Diego especially coastal areas like Encinitas and Del Mar are superior places to living than Dallas BUT the boring dead armpit drug ridden Inland Empire is not better place to live than a world class city such as Dallas or Houston. There actually is a lot more to do in these cities than Hemet or Perris. And a lot cheaper for new construction.
Anyways I am on the side lines next couple years to see what happens here in San Diego. My hope is that things will really tank and accelerate down major crash like 1997. It really takes a crash before prices become normal and affordable again for most people. I think that 400k is a tad high for a nice condo. Even in a coastal area.I was looking at Miami and its even less than coastal San Diego. Amazing.
