ParticipantPublic Service Announcement:
I have had a version of the Maple Bacon Donut at a store called “Donut Touch” in 4S Ranch.I think there is another Donut Touch location in Mira Mesa.
However:
1) it is not quite as decadent as the Del Mar Fair version. Fewer, larger bacon pieces.
2) they don’t have it every week… but if you go there on a regular basis, you will see it.🙂

ParticipantThere’s a place near us called “Mathnasium”. The logo is kinda cute/clever in that the letters “at” in “Mathnasium” form an “A+”. The place also has a clever slogan: “catch up, keep up, or get ahead.” Besides this, I know nothing about the place, though.

ParticipantI’d like to raze Clairemont and start over again, too. However, I prefer something like a 4S or Del Sur style development with great schools to match.
We sort of talked about it here a couple of years ago… (my, how time flies!):

I have two more smaller ones, but I don’t feel like logging onto those websites to find out.Essbee
ParticipantCarmel Mtn Costco gas station opened today!!! Price is $3.93 per gallon, which is pretty good, considering that I paid something like $4.10 earlier in the week. There was no line tonight, but I bet that won’t last for long.

ParticipantThank you!! Yes, that is the spot! On the PDF map, it is labeled as “low density housing”, elementary school, and park. Wow. I think they will need to build the new middle school as well.
Isn’t everything in Pacific Highlands Ranch being developed by Pardee?

ParticipantThat is weird…. it doesn’t seem anywhere near RB at this point. I am within about a block of where it started (the canyon just south of Del Norte HS) and it is just smoldering in a few spots here.
What about earlyretirement? I hope he and his family are safe in Santaluz.

ParticipantYes , it started just 1 block from my house but now seems under control over here.

ParticipantI’m referring to something south of 56. (It sounds like the project in the article is north of 56).

ParticipantMaybe it’s this:
http://www.delmartimes.net/2013/06/08/city-expected-to-approve-plans-for-another-new-carmel-valley-housing-development-by-end-of-summer/
??that is, maybe it’s the “affordable housing units” mentioned in the article as being “south of 56”.

ParticipantI recommend googling “Pacific Crest Trail blog” or something similar. I did this last summer and followed a couple people for the first month or two of their hike. I believe they typically start in late April, so your timing is perfect.

ParticipantI came to this forum tonight to see if you all had any commentary on this story. I am almost speechless. What a PSYCHOPATH! This rises far, far above the level of a prank.
I would like to see this woman’s mug shot. I also wish we could understand a bit more about why she was SO mad about how the real estate transaction turned out. Did she somehow feel she was wronged in the transaction beyond just having an inferior offer?

ParticipantI went to a kindergarten readiness forum at my children’s preschool last night. The presenter was a kindergarten teacher from Stone Ranch. She said that this year, they anticipate that everyone living in the Stone Ranch or Monterey Ridge school boundaries is expected to get in (ie NO wait list), because the opening of Design39 should offload both of them. She did not specifically address Del Sur because no one in last night’s audience lived in that area.
Now, regarding D39… ultimately, I know of 4 kids from the preschool class whose parents applied for D39 kindergarten slots. (We did not apply). Apparently, two got in and two did not. One of the parents I was speaking with was speculating about “racial quotas”. It just happens that the two kids who got it were Caucasian, and the two who did not were Korean and Indian. The Korean parent felt that perhaps there were quotas against “too many” Asians in the school. I have not idea if that is correct, but that is apparently speculation among some in this community.

ParticipantJust wanted to say that I signed the petitions, too. I’m not Asian, but I’ve always been a strong supporter of Prop 209. Hopefully our state officials will keep it intact.
I also emailed State Assemblyman Maienschein and State Senator Wyland. I noticed that when Maienschein, SCA5 was one of a 10 or so choices for the subject line, so that leads me to believe that he must be getting a fair number of emails about it.
