I recommend googling “Pacific Crest Trail blog” or something similar. I did this last summer and followed a couple people for the first month or two of their hike. I believe they typically start in late April, so your timing is perfect.
Last Fall I developed Achilles tendinitis; 4 or 5 months later I’m still not heeled. I would love to hike, on some days though I can barely walk.
I try to get one hike in every weekend. Helps keep things ‘moving’. Doesn’t have to be a major undertaking, though I hope to be in shape soon to do Vivian Creek Trail.
