ParticipantAn interesting thread is evident in many of the above posts. There seem to be two (at least) groups of posters as to dogs’ behavior and whether or not to be afraid of them. Some say leash your dog, keep it away from me and my kids, (or lawn, driveway, etc), control it, etc. Many in this group had a bad experience with a supposedly “gentle” dog.
The other group, primarily dog owners, say their dogs are friendly, gentle, loving, and could never hurt anyone, and never have hurt anyone, at least recently.

ParticipantMello Roos, right, not a good deal.
HOA of $450/mo. on the smaller houses at least gets some value back. Pays for landscaping, watering, security patrols, entry gates, internet, and enforcing the rules to preserve the ambience of the development.EconProf

ParticipantOther articles have reinforced the idea that businesses, especially small businesses that do a disporportionate amount of the hiring, are just afraid to borrow. They don’t know what costs or regulations will be imposed by governments at all levels, so they are just hunkering down and surviving. Investing in new equipment or new hires takes optimism about the future, and they are rightfully afraid.

ParticipantI suspect a lot of these 5+ bedroom McMansions are dinasaurs and will suffer greviously on a price per SF basis. When rising utility costs are factored in along with Americans’ coming healthy desire to downsize, quality and location will triumph over size. A smaller footprint is a good thing.
