ParticipantHey guys, it is now 6:00 a.m. Monday and I still can’t get on-line to my Chase account. This has been going on since last Tuesday, they announced late last week the system was fixed, sent me an apologetic email Saturday, but now, they are STILL down.
This is a big deal for people who need to move money around on-line to pay for checks they’ve written or do other banking on-line. Chase will have to void a lot of overdraft charges. Chase always encourages us to go on-line and now they can’t perform the most basic services. Time to short Chase stock.September 20, 2010 at 5:40 AM in reply to: OT: Chase sucks………………….fees fees fees fees fees fees #607438EconProf

ParticipantI hate Chase, for a long list of reasons. They took over WaMu and although their tellers and managers are all trained to smile, be friendly, ask how your day is going, etc., behind the scenes they are contriving more ways to screw you with fees, holds on deposits, and recently, shut down on-line access for 4 straight days, blaming outside vendors for infecting their sign-on process (where’s the back-up system guys?).
In my experience, the smaller the bank, the better the service and the smaller and less frequent the fees. They have not yet learned all the insidious ways to screw the customer. Plus, they did not take our bailout money. Also, credit unions in general are invariably better than the big banks. I use Mission Federal Credit Union–far superior to Chase. I have many autopays with my Chase checking and am too lazy to switch….but some day they will push me over the edge & Il’ll drop them.September 19, 2010 at 7:01 AM in reply to: OT: Chase sucks………………….fees fees fees fees fees fees #606533EconProf

ParticipantSunny88: I agree. Santaluz is all about low density and, for many houses, forever views. But there are two parts to Santaluz–east of Del Sur, and the higher density, 4S standard big boxes west of Del Sur. The latter have deservedly fallen the most in value.

ParticipantIf preservation of capital is primary to you, I’d stay away from bonds and bond funds. They look good only on their recent performance, which is enhanced by the unprecedented lowering of interest rates in recent years. If that trend reverses, or merely stops, bond returns go negative or at best flatten out at low levels.
