Is it another open season on FIH?
You need to stop using 2014 data on how much their agents get paid…dumbrenterParticipant
What was this Muslim doctor thinking, moving to Trump country? He should have known that people raised on certain values are irredeemable.
Smart fellow… does not once mention that renouncing his religion is punishable by death and it is law in many countries. Nice guilt tripping exercise.
Guess how long a non-moslem family will last in an equivalent rural community is pakistan?
Certain values are irredeemable; as much as you or that author of the post tried, the population of that town in minnesota do come across as very civilized in expressing their opinion at the election. If I was in tourism industry in that state, I would use that to encourage tourism, especially from your favorite chinese who would inherently ‘get it’ as to how long somebody that different would have lasted in their part of the world.Edited later: Damn.. only after saving it did I realize I responded to a bait and that this is not relevant to the Health care vote…My apologies to the OP.. will not happen again
dumbrenterParticipant
Confirmed today by WH, 401k plans are out as part of this plan, even though not mentioned in yesterday’s release. Presumably referring to current deferrals, not monies already in plans. Why? Because $18,000 deferrals don’t mean shit to really rich people.
small blessings for poor folks like me! getting something in return now.
dumbrenterParticipantI was assuming (I don’t know why.. have no basis here) that the homeowners across CA 56 from Carmel Valley to Carmel Mtn. had itemized deduction that were between $12k and $30k and this might affect them or future homeowners. If they itemize to more than $30K this would not affect them at all.
It would depend on what other deductions are eliminated or reduced: mortgage interest, property taxes, state taxes?
If the plan was simply to raise standard deduction and eliminate mortgage deduction, I don’t think your specific numbers wouldn’t impact most SD homeowners enough to influence prices.
If other itemized deductions are eliminated as well, that would mean raising taxes on much of the upper middle-class and effectively eliminating federal taxes for most of the lower middle class…remember the disdain for the the 47% that “don’t pay any taxes”? It will never get through congress.
The “simplify taxes” agenda is just another part of the schtick that will accomplish nothing. The basic 1040 stuff like W2 income and typical the deductions I listed above aren’t what makes taxes complicated. Taxes become complicated when one has business income. And that will not change.
So enjoy the show, but don’t let concerns about the possible outcomes influence your real estate investment decisions. It’s all just theatre.
dumbrenterParticipant
The market is snoozing because they know this is Trump’s trial balloon and not an actual proposal or anything else that as even a margin of a chance of passing.
Was more focused on what this means to rents & property prices in San Diego, but this is interesting! So no major decision is already priced in then
dumbrenterParticipant
Not exactly sure what you are looking for but check out finviz.com
Thanks for the reference.
I am looking for something similar to google finance stock screener where I could quickly sort thru and filter based on market cap, dividend, gross margins etc.dumbrenterParticipantAre we looking at the same markets?
Indices are barely off 1%.
Stupid ass experts, made me wake up real early in the morning for nothing.

dumbrenterParticipantYou cannot put money in 2 401k plans in the same year.
Something I found out the hard way because the employer assholes never told me that (they have no incentive to tell you that). What I ended up doing few years ago (when still a wage slave)was to max out the 401k in the first 2 months. You can do that by setting 99% of your wage to go to 401k. It automatically stops once you hit the limit for 401K that year.
That way you de-risk yourself from having a taxable event with larger income + any signing bonus you might have gotten for your new job this summer!
As for the cash, I suggest you invest in your regular investment account (not IRA or roth) and invest a little more aggressively based on when you think you will retire
dumbrenterParticipant
If they would cancel H1b and stop outsourcing to China and India, that would be a good start for Trump.
Not sure about jobs coming back, but maybe this dumbrenter can finally afford a home in Pacific Highlands Ranch if that were to happen!
“Tear down the H1b, Mr. President and bring up the tariffs” 🙂I might get my home but will never be able to afford any more electronics or avocados.
And I might have to mow my own lawn and maintain my own garden…on second thoughts, this is not looking good at all!
These laws of unforseen concequences never ever work in my favor.dumbrenterParticipantIt is a greek soup
dumbrenterParticipant

Norway?
Tax everybody and have over $6/gallon gas price even though you are oil rich.
But what would you do?
Long term leases on the blocks of the land where the oil is found. And auction them. Make sure the one rich guy gets at least a third of the action but find others incl. encouraging coops from rest of 5 mil -1 people to bid for those blocks.
worst case, get the govt into a few of the blocks too.Automation or shovels is up to whoever wins the auction on the blocks.
Essentially de-link it from labor or price of the oil (I should have said this first… so much simpler)dumbrenterParticipantIs the thing with the vacation to get a double hit on the same travel?
Or is it more about knowing the neighborhood?
The one thing I like about my one out of state rental, that I have had for 15 years, is that I don’t do any of the repair work myself. Doing a facetime with the tenant or contractor shows me pretty much all I need to see to stay on top of issues.
Vs my San Diego rental, that I find myself being too hands-on to save a buck.
With that said, I wouldn’t advise owning out of state unless you vacation there or are getting a crazy deal.
