CoronitaParticipantFWIW: CA state senate currently does NOT have a supermajority….2 of the current senators are on leave pending criminal charges.. With 26 senators, that’s not enough to prevent a fillbuster….
1. State Sen. Roderick Wright (D), was convicted Jan. 28 of eight felony counts of voter fraud and perjury.
2. State Sen. Ronald Calderon (D), who has been indicted on federal corruption charges for allegedly accepting almost $100,000 in bribes, meals and golf outings — including $88,000 in bribes from an undercover FBI agent — began a leave of absence last week to fight the charges. 24 charges total….
So as it stands 26(D) 11(R)…..
2 suspended indefinitely for now (District 35 and 30) , 1 vacant (District 23).(27 is the magic number for a supermajority)..Ted Lieu is district 28 (south bay). He would be vulnerable me thinks, but I believe he will be running for US House in (district 33)
————————————————
Two California state senators in legal trouble are taking indefinite leaves of absence from their jobs, rejecting Republicans’ calls for them to resign and costing Democrats their supermajority, at least temporarily.Last week, Senate Democrats voted down a GOP resolution to expel state Sen. Roderick Wright (D), who was convicted Jan. 28 of eight felony counts of voter fraud and perjury. Wright was first indicted in 2010 on charges that he lied on his voter registration form and candidate filings and committed voter fraud in five elections.
State Sen. Ronald Calderon (D), who has been indicted on federal corruption charges for allegedly accepting almost $100,000 in bribes, meals and golf outings — including $88,000 in bribes from an undercover FBI agent — began a leave of absence last week to fight the charges. Federal agents raided Calderon’s Sacramento offices in June. He has pleaded not guilty to 24 charges and was released on bond.
Both senators will be paid during their absences.

CoronitaParticipantYou just had to quote me on the my typos didn’t you? (too lazy to correct them now on the demographic breakdown)…
AN, you have much to learn how our politicians work….
You wouldn’t be making $490k…After all, let’s not forget you’re asian…And “too many of you” make too much money, so I’m sure there would be an “Income-5” rule and only 13% of asians would be qualified to make $490k/year salary….

CoronitaParticipant

Semi OT: Jesse Jackson says blacks inadequately represented in tech companies
Here comes another shakedown …
I would like to ask Jesse Jackson if he would also push for Asians’ inadequately represented in the NBA/NFL/MLB as well. I wouldn’t mind being a bench warmer in the NBA.
Well, if we pass NBA-5 or NCAA-5, then we’ll need to fill asians quota until they score 5% of the total points per game, caucasians need to fill quotas so that they can make up 70% of the total score…However, we’ll need to quota limit the total points african americans can score to 13%. We’ll probably need to include some “other races” too in the mix..

CoronitaParticipant
By the way, I am not saying that we shouldn’t help kids from poor family. But I just don’t see why we have to use race (out of so many other criteria that we could use) to help some of the poor kids out there.
Bingo….

I’m not too worried about Jesse Jackson. Personally i think he should work on making sure his son doesn’t stay in jail for corruption….
Like father, like son….But it does sound enough people are fed up with things, doesn’t it? Seems like things have finally started to backfire…
Anyway, need to do some research on who’s vulnerable in our state senate…heh heh….
CoronitaParticipantNeed to do some research on ERUS holdings to figure out what sort of impact sanctions will have, if any….
Just in case US/EU decides to impose stricter sanctions besides freezing the assets of another important russia figure… like Putin’s dog or chia pet…
Top 10 Holdings (75.49% of Total Assets)
OAO Gazprom FDGAZP 20.11
LUKOIL CO LUKOF 11.30
Sberbank Of Russia SBER 11.26
MMC Norilsk Nickel JSC GMKN 5.79
NOVATEK JT STK NOVKY 4.87
OAO Tatneft TATN 4.77
OJSC Rosneft Oil Company ROSN 4.70
OJSC Magnit GDR MGNT 4.50
JSC Uralkali URKA 4.13
JSC VTB Bank VTBR 4.06
CoronitaParticipantspecifically, thinking about ERUS for speculation..
CoronitaParticipantWell it would probably do a pretty good job squeezing out young people and some individuals who barely can afford home prices and probably put more real estate in the hands of corporations and wealthier individuals that have better economies of scale probably that could probably eat more of the cost.
I love how people think increasing taxes for the very things that younger people could use to build their wealth are systematically being eliminated for them so that it’s *that* much harder for younger people to end up being financially independent…..
Let’s see. Raising property taxes for investment property might make my bottom line less profitable. But it wouldn’t affect my buying/selling decision in as much as I have sufficient resources to absorb the increased costs….. But it would be interesting to see how people just starting out to build their wealth will have one less tool to help them build wealth, as well as all the other tools that are gradually disappearing… But hey, I guess they can always join MyIRA and earn that most likely pathetically low interest rate…
I feel sorry for younger people that don’t have a silver spoon they will be inheriting…Things definitely aren’t looking good for them..

CoronitaParticipant

Well I’m personally glad it seems more people are beginning to see the bigger problem… You know things are really starting to get weird when joec, AN, FLU, ocrenter start having the same viewpoint….
I’m more concerned that our wacked politicians are simply deferring the issue, post election….You know, counting on the fact that with this “deferred”, they can try a run at it again after elections… making the big assumption/gamble that asians won’t turn out to vote out these jerks out of office……Which you can interpret to be the most insulting thing, thinking they can try to kick around this issue again…
Afterall, they aren’t “killing” it… Hernandez simply mentioned it would be back for reconsideration in 2016…
In other words, we have work to do to make sure it can’t possibly come up again in the state senate….I think this is where it’s time to throw money at the problem and time and resources…. And make sure it’s DOA…
Really happy silicon valley is just as stirred up about this… because that’s where I think possibly we can get a lot of traction from some heavyweights.
dude, after this thing, for ALL Califonia elections I’m voting Republican ONLY. The CA Democratic party has lost my vote.
What’s really amazing to me isn’t just the fact that Hernandez’s camped backed this..
…Nor is it that the CA senate completely passed it…
What is really amazing to me is that despite the backlash against this, that Hernandez’s camp isn’t even planning on killing this, but he’s going to try to push this through in 2016 again…
If you are asian, at this point you have to be completely idiotic to think keeping the status quo in the state senate would be anything but a complete disaster….
So the next exercise would be to figure out which state senators are at risk in the swing area correlated with the relative population of AA… and well, you know how politics works…
I’m predicting Ted Lieu will lose his seat over this… Good…

CoronitaParticipantThe more people talk about this, and remotely try to justify legalized discrimination the more happy it makes me feel that it’s rubbing people definitely the wrong way (people who are potential targets of such discriminatory practices)…
Some of you probably are have your blood boiling over this…. Good….Let this burn in really really really well…
Because this is EXACTLY what you’re up against in 2016, if they have a shot at it again….which is exactly why, I said…… We have a lot of work to do to make sure that isn’t going to happen…

I’ve changed my mind. Sorry folks. I’m out today @$.73…
I found a spare engine for my miata I think I want to get…. And I think this will about cover it…(No really, the miata engine is cheap :))
The rest of you folks can now enjoy a over $1 gain now that I’m out )
You are welcome.
Pretty good call. I’m out of 1/2 now, at .70 and .715. Order in to sell the rest at .65. I hope it doesn’t fill. But if it does, a pretty nice trade. $10K, 75 days. It’ll pay some bills.
I didn’t make much off of it. More I think livingcali brought me down to reality and reminded me why I hate penny stocks…
