CoronitaParticipantI think a lot of market speculators that were shorting oil or buying reverse indexes on oil companies recently got their a** handed to them recently. Hence the dead silence. I don't know, seems like americans don't mind $100/oil, and as the us dollar keeps devaluing, i'm not sure where oil is going to end up.
It probably doesn't also help that there is an expectation of yet another interest rate cut, as I received a headline news this morning.
Although most analysts expect the Fed to go ahead with another 50 basis point cut at the next meeting, fears that stagflation may become entrenched are rising.
That said, I drove a Prius rental car in spain last week. Europeans pay an arm and a leg for gas….I guess we're getting there ourselves. I was pretty impressed, except that it's a little weird that it drives like a golf cart when you first start up (being dead quite). It's probably not the best kind of car to drive in a crowded cities in europe, because people walk all over streets and are use to moving out of your way when they here your car's engine behind them…But in a Prius, it's pretty dead silent when you're rolling around in a crowded city. I'm considering getting a more fuel efficient car as a commuter. My only gripe is i wish there was an affordable full electric car. The Tesla roadster is a little out of my price range…And oh, I wish the Prius had slightly more attractive exterior packaging.

CoronitaParticipantI think folks if your read ocrenters what I quickly latched onto was the sheer hassle if one gets entangled into a lawsuit, regardless of how frivolous it is. Time is money, and if that other guy really wants to be a prick and spend time trying to go after people (even if it most likely won't stand up in court), being on the receiving end, you'll have to spend some time in court, legal fees, etc. Even if you win your case, what do you really win? There's no monetary compensation for you in winning your defense…So while I think ocrenter's blog is great, I can understand the pragmatism in what was done. Besides, that guy has brought so much attention onto himself, that this story has spread on the internet beyond the initial blog. Ironic isn't it?
I can sort of relate to these lawsuits, because if you've even been involved in a minor fenderbender where the other guy/gal just wants blood, you'll realize what a P.I.T.A. people in CA can be. Sometimes, even if the person clearly was at fault for causing the accident, you'll inevitability run into some prick that not only later refuses to acknowledge he/she was the cause, but actually tries to lie and turn the story around and blame you for it. That's why, I always travel with a handle digital camera and video camera. You never know when it will be handy.
I have to say though. Some people need to chill on being so defensive about "reputation" from what is said in a blog. I guess working in corporate america for so long, I can't count how many times people at work at backstabed others or me, or tried to question my credibility, etc. Do i have grounds to sue? I think not.[img_assist|nid=5962|title=selfportrait|desc=|link=node|align=left|width=100|height=80]

CoronitaParticipantThis has been covered before here.
Bi-weekly means your making 26 payments (there's 52 weeks per year), which isn't the same thing as bi-monthly (which means there 24 payments).
Hence, your "accelerated" mortage pay off from a bi-weekly plan would be no different than if you just made 1 extra monthly payment toward your principle each year…except that companies that administer the bi-weekly plan usually charge a "service fee" to do this.
Save yourself some money. If you have an extra $3000 around each year, just apply it directly to your principle. There's no magic going on here.
