as for the fat. in moderation of course. you can’t survive on a NO fat diet. but too much fat WILL raise your cholesterol, this is not a conspiracy driven advice.[/quote]Studies that linked saturated fat consumption to high cholesterol have been shown faulty. In nearly every major clinical trial since Taubes book came out, people on a lo-carb regimen showed improved cholesterol profiles particularly triglycerides.
I would preface this by saying, not everyone has this insulin resistance problem. The high-fat, lo-carb type diet seems to work well for those prone to belly fat. Let’s face we all know skinny people who really don’t do much to stay thin, and I don’t know that that person has the same issues dealing with insulin.

ParticipantI know I said this way back but if anyone is worried about whether eating high fat causes you to be fat or whether high cholesterol foods cause high cholesterol, read Gary Taubes Good Calories, Bad Calories. It as is thoroughly researched a book on myths about foods as I’ve read. Guys like Atkins, had a program to sell, (nothing wrong with that) but covered the detail rather lightly allowing the occasional Ornish type follower to look down their nose at anyone who mentions Atkins. Taubes stuff does a great job exposing the history of the politically driven science that led to the explosion of refined carb production which… has also led to the growth in belly fat.
He’s had some fantastic stuff on youtube as well.
