ParticipantI manage in Little League and we say the pledge of allegiance before every game followed by the little league pledge (I trust in god, love my country, and will obey it’s laws ….) Can’t believe LL hasn’t been taken the woodshed for these pledges.

ParticipantTake down the organizations which abuse power and hurt their fellow man. Corrupt institutions which preach hatred
I am hoping we can start with the Rainbow Coalition and PETA? Let's get some RICO trials going!!!

ParticipantAs CS Lewis stated he hated the idea that people said Jesus was a great teacher and philosopher. It’s like they throw out half of everything he said, and stick only to the “advice” he gave.
Now of course a logician (is that a word?) would say he is using false dilemmas, but nonetheless Lewis stated he was either:
Lunatic – kind of disproved by the sermon on the mount
Liar – claiming to be god in the flesh

ParticipantYes I am a little overboard about this stuff but anyone belonging to one of these “positive thinking” chrisian churches is fooling themselves. Another name for them is “name it-Claim it” (I prefer boneheads). These folks think “positively confessing” your needs and desires will answer your prayers. These folks are more likely to understand Norman Vincent Peale than they are Paul of Tarsus.
Other names for this movement are Health and Wealth, Prosperity Movement. I love the comments about war, disease, poverty, and these jokers needing a new lexus.
Paraphrasing, but “No one can serve two masters…You cannot serve both God and money”

ParticipantSheesh why the big $$$ on high class call-girls. I could see the guy trying this out once or twice to see what the hell it was all about but to burn through that cash?
Flash some money around where the hotties hang out and are attracted by the size of a man’s wallet. I don’t get it.
Is the grandma screwed here? Man this is just depressing that people will do this to the people that raised them.

ParticipantMaybe it’s because I have always lived on the good side of town, but most of the Christian’s I run across in church aren’t exactly factory workers.
So the religious contingent is uneducated? Tell it to my lawyer, dentist, SDSU business prof, and just about anyone else I see. In fact we often lament the lack of blue-collar working class folks being a part. (not so much here in Cali where you don’t have that class).
Occasionally I see a skilled tradesman or carpenter, but for the most part pretty successful smart people.

ParticipantJG is like the one guy on here who posts a positive spin when people make asinine assumptions that most christians are either leading the charge on scamming, or else that most christians are trusting and gullible. I can’t figure out which one it is just yet. However since LK and others jump into the fray every time one of these things comes up, I’d rate the signal to noise ratio as about 5-1 the anti-american pro-frenchy (insert cuba, venezuela or whatever other flavor of the week) vs. the patriotic murricans.
So anyway JG resorts to name-calling because he says “anti-american”, but christians being either gullible or scammers…. No name-calling there.

ParticipantI for one, —as a right-winger— think there are too many religious right types that drive people away from Christ. Now it’s one thing for JG to stick up for Christianity, when it gets bashed here non-stop.
The problem is liberals define compassion by taking from one and giving to another. I am hardly a social conservative, though I am not a big fan of abortion, I tend to listen to heavy-metal, drink, etc. However what drives me away from the left are things like affirmative action, wanting higher taxes, amnesty for illegals, and telling everyone what kind of car they ought to drive. Talk about religious freaks… What about the A-holes that want to ban the SUV?
They don’t want the govt. in my bedroom but by god, my garage and my toilet is fair game.
And no I am not a bush-bot at all.
