ParticipantCertainly one could never vote for a presidential candidate who holds any different views than your own. Everyone knows that if the president wants to, he can instantly change the laws to reflect his personal views. If you are pro-choice, never ever ever vote for someone who is pro-life because if they are elected abortions will immediately become illegal. Conversely, if you are pro-life but vote for a pro-choice president, the day they take office there will be free abortion clinics on every corner.
It is easy to choose who to vote for. Just choose the person who says the most pleasing things, the things that disturb you the least.

ParticipantWe don’t have as many looters or rioters here because so much of our likely rioting and looting population (young, poorly educated, underprivileged men) is imprisoned. It is interesting to note more people are imprisoned here in this “free” country than in any other country in the world. Our incarceration rate actually surpassed that of the “Evil Empire” USSR back in 1998 when we went past 7/1000 people in prison.
This graph shows our incarceration rate by year. Note the sharp turn upward right about the time Ray-gun took office. It is not going down anytime soon, and since more and more prisons are becoming for-profit, privately-owned enterprises with several powerful lobbies behind them, it will probably increase even more dramatically in the years to come.

ParticipantThey’re just imitating the overlords. The hedge fundies in the City of London and Wall Street are doing this sort of thing to countries around the globe from the safety of their gleaming office towers on a much larger scale and with much more serious consequences. They get away with it and go home every night to their zillion dollar condos and do a bunch of cocaine while the rest of us schlubs watch our 401Ks dwindle and our pensions disappear.
Seriously, there is no rule of law for those at the top so why are we surprised when those at the bottom don’t pay attention to it either?
