Participant
After 8 years of Bush I was glad to have Obama. Lose followed by win.
And now, you got this shit show. Yep, sounds like an awesome result and it must be all worth it.
I can understand you didn’t like Obama, but it sounds like you don’t like Trump either. Lose then lose more.
I personally didn’t “lose”. I did just fine under Obama and probably will do just fine if not better under Trump. The only “lost” that I see is the shit show that the two party system have gotten us into now. Enjoy your show.

Participant

flu, now that I think about it, if this was proposed and implemented with Obamacare (i.e. those who voted for Obama cover the cost instead of forcing the middle class to do it), we might not be talking about Trump right now and the stupid wall or the ban.
True, but at the same time, there were alternatives to healthcare. There’s no alternative to “no wall”. If our government wants to enforce immigration laws, fine. i don’t see how a wall is very helpful, considering like in SD we already have one or two. It would be interesting though that if we adopted a crowd sourcing model of funding certain projects. For example, people that want a high speed train could contribute and those that didn’t don’t. Those that contribute would pay a much reduced rate for use. And those that didn’t well, would pay a lot for it once it’s done.
I totally agree. But at least it takes one of his voters’ main reason for voting for him. Whether it would have made a difference, who knows, but I would think it would. But no one will know. We are where we are because of the decision the politicians made over the last 8 years. Remember, “Election have consequences” and “I have the pen and the phone”? Yep, we’re now in pen and phone overdrive. Not only that, Dems used the nuclear option and now, Rep only needed 51 votes to confirm Trump’s nominees. Thank you very much.

ParticipantI’ll definitely try out Tasty Noodle House. Thanks for the heads up, Hatfield.

Participant
The key is to go on a weekday, and show up about 45-30minutes before the door opens.
If you show up after the door opens, expect a 1-2 hour wait. At least that’s how it is at South Coast Plaza
Here are there other locations in the US
http://dintaifungusa.com/locations_us/
There’s even a wikipedia about them.. Lol..
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Din_Tai_Fung%5B/quote%5DSouth Coast I think is an exception. When I went to the South Coast one, it was a 3 hours wait at 6PM on a Sunday. So we didn’t stay. But the Glendale one was only 45-60 minutes wait. Being in UTC isn’t bad either, because while you wait, you can shop or go for a drink at one of the other restaurants or bar.January 26, 2017 at 2:27 PM in reply to: OT: PSA (from AN)… You will no longer need to go to South Coast Plaza for one of the best Taiwanese Eateries #805150an
Participant
That’s pretty awesome. I’ll be sure to take my cousins from Ohio there to show them our coastal attractions.
We could use a nice Hong Kong restaurant in the UTC area.
Westfield, if you’re listening, build condos above the mall, please.
That was in the original plan but the community said no. Which is why they changed that. It’s OK, you can live in Coste Verde towers across the street or the new Garden Community apartment that’s being built right now.an
Participant
AN, interesting perspective. I guess that’s why you may not understand.why an anti gay bakery owner may not refuse to bake a cake for a gay wedding.
They’re what a lot of far left would call capitalist pigs who are hypocrites and have no moral. I totally understand why and I don’t care if they do it. But it doesn’t make them any less of a hypocrite just because I understand why they would be a hypocrite.

Participant

Lol. I walked into my master bedroom and near the window my carpet is all wet. Like soaked…. Great, add one more thing to “fix”….
My kid’s bedroom experienced the same thing. I thought I had it fixed the last time to rain this much. But don’t have any opportunity to test my fix. Turns out I fixed 1/2 of the problem. Time to try and fix the other 1/2 and wait for the next crazy rain.
I will second Hobie’s suggestion on looking at the door seals and seals between the threshold and door jamb. Check if the door jamb itself is cracking near the threshold. Ours is and it looks like I have a big job coming up to remove the door and redo a good portion of the door jamb itself. Doors that face the sun are more likely to have this problem.
Yep, the problem I think is the seal going bad and the high wind. When it was raining hard but little wind, it didn’t leak. So, I need to get the seal replaced.an
Participant

So, in another word, do as I say, not as I do. Got it.
Nope.
Just because I believe affordable housing policies doesn’t mean I shouldn’t get the max rent for my rentals, amounts which might be unaffordable for the average person.
Another illustration. If I’m in the business of selling processed food, i would do my best within the existing order. But i believe that the government has a compelling interest in, and rightfully should enact policies to discourage the consumption of processed food.
If government policies hurt me financially but they are good for the aggregate, I’ll keep my mouth shut; or I’ll support the policies because they are the correct one. No hypocrisy.
And if the government puts me out of business then it’s time for me to find another business . The world is a changing place.
That’s like anti-abortion crowd who go out an get abortion or anti gay rights but make banks providing services to the gay community, etc. You’re behaving exactly like those trump supporters you rail against.an

Participant
Under capitalism, we don’t need to care about people. We just make the most financially beneficial decisions and that automatically best serves everyone. How simple and wonderful.

So let’s not confuse personal profits to what’s good for the whole of humanity. We should want win-win, not lose-win
So, which is it?

ParticipantWho said anything about quickly? This is the government we’re talking about. It takes 3 years to build a neighborhood park, from planning to completion, so why would you think anything would move quickly when it comes to the government?

Participant
AN, we’ve had almost a decade of continued growth. A global recession will set all humanity back, notwithstanding your charity work.
I’ll call BS on that one. Global recession happened many times. We didn’t see humanity set back in 2008, 2001, etc. There are millions of people who are better off today than in 2000 world wide.
I really wonder if Trump learned anything at Wharton. His prescriptions so far smack discredited mercantilism and protectionism. Those ideas may sound good to the trumpadors because people tend to want protectionism for their individual selves; but in the whole, we would be all poorer.
You’re projecting. What’s important to you might not be important to Trump or his supporters. What make you think he cares if the world as a whole is poorer? IMHO, for protectionist, as long as American do better, that’s all that matters. That’s the whole point of protectionism, isn’t it?
I would love to see Trump’s college transcript. So many things he hasn’t released yet.
Who cares? would you seeing his transcript all of sudden boot him out of office or make you like him and trust him?
