The comments about being ultra-contrarian — and needing some sort of affirmation — are spot on, IMHO.
Once upon a time, we had to scour the internet for any kind of information that just might hint of a downturn.
These days, the downturn is obvious to absolutely everyone. It’s all about the waiting now.
There is also “information overload” now, and it would take so much longer to go through all the reports, statistics, articles, etc. and some of us are tired of spending our lives on the internet searching for the truth (speaking as a blog/internet addict who would spend 8++ hours/day doing research).
Still reading RE sites almost every day, but not being as thorough. I’ve long predicted that we’d know the bubble had burst (and gotten near a bottom) when everyone turns away from RE-related sites, TV shows, and conversations. We still have a long way to go, but at least we aren’t in that most painful part of waiting…waiting…waiting, like 2004-early 2007. That part sucked! π

The more entertaining posts developed when animated, learned posters, sort of went on the attack with each other.
I do miss many of the posters who’ve moved on. Others……
It was good to hear that jg is still posting elsewhere is not hear. I met him at one of the meet ups a year or so ago. And I wonder if Poway Seller’s website is still active. If I’m not mistaken, I occasionally see her respond to posts here from time to time?
Yep, I think that since the RE and financial markets have by and large validated Rich’s site, and there are lots of bubble/RE/Financial-crash sites popping up every day, its to be expected that posts might taper off here. But, I think lurkers probably outnumber posters.
Here’s to Rich for keeping the site going, and even upgrading it periodically. Much appreciated.

July 4, 2008 at 4:32 PM #233155AnonymousGuesti have been reading this site since last fall, but almost never post. Agreed, I feel a little burned out by the whole housing collapse, but I still check in because the viewpoints here are very thoughtful.
I hope everyone starts to pick up with the posts again, this is a very valuable site and I’ve learned a lot. And, hopefully at some point this will be the website to tell us all when the right time to buy has come.

July 5, 2008 at 8:12 AM #23327934f3f3fParticipantJust read at some of the posts and you’ll know why. I find the real estate posts useful and informative, but some of the other ones sad. Blogs are great information exchanges, but when they are high-jacked by blog-nuts who spend more time in virtual reality, than in the real world, it somehow seems to bring the worst out in people.
