Thank God, I do not have to work any more, but when my son goes to school, it is about 20 miles each way. I am glad I kept the old VW and wishing I did not buy the SUV to be in a car pool that never was. Pretty soon he will be driving himself to school. I do wonder why more people do not try to find people they can ride with. I would rather ride with someone than drive.

June 18, 2008 at 12:34 PM #224758stop_the_bubble_hypeParticipantI live 18 miles from work (door to door) but my real joy in life comes from having the ability to ride the Coaster to work everyday. I am saving about $50 a week on gas (cost of gas – cost of coaster), don’t have the wear and tear on the car, and I get to relax.
Though I must admit I drove a few days last week and traffic has been so easy as of late.

If you have a long commute, you should either move or get a job closer to home, even if it means a cut in pay. Add up the time lost every year to get an idea of what you’re doing to your family, not to mention your stress level.
