This is the terrible economic Pain we are feeling?

I really think we have become a nation of whiners and self important lazy people. I mean seriously, read the article and tell me you feel sorry for the economic pains these people cite.
Here are my Favorites:

Alicia Marinelli, 24, must struggle with a $150 monthly tab on her undergraduate debt.

– Oh my! 150 a month! You mean she actually has to pay that college debt back!

“Kids graduating college expect to get jobs but they just aren’t there,” said Marinelli, who interns with the New York Knicks and hopes for a career in sports management. “Students are settling instead of getting their choice so they can pay for healthcare and student loans.”

– Let me get this straight, you live in Northeastern PA, away from all big sports teams, and you are complaining that there are no sports managment jobs in the area? So that means youll have to move or get a different job that you may not like as much???

… many at the town hall meetings said the weakening economy has forced them to cut back on their spending. Some talked of running all their errands on one trip or turning their thermostat down at home to save on energy costs. “I just wear heavier clothing,” said Florence McCabe, 62, a retired teacher who now sets her thermometer to 69-degrees instead of 73-degrees.

– Oh the world is ending, you cant wear a bikini in the middle of the night in Northern PA in Winter! Or you have to go to the grociery store AND the dry cleaners in the same trip, maybe even on your way home from work (GASP!!!! say it an’t so Hilary!).

This was the best they could find? I mean seriously. In the 1930’s people worried about not being able to feed their kids. In the 1970’s people worried about not being able to get to and from work if they had work to get to and from. Today we worry about the house not being heated to 73 and the fact we cant jam the roads with our gas guzzeling SUV’s so we can make seperate trips for everything we do? Pathetic.

I agree completely.  We have so much that we take for granted.  People should try traveling somewhere that has little or no air conditioning, no ice-cold drinks or ice cubes, and such inconveniences as having to walk or open doors manually or climb stairs.  It seems that the more "modern" we get the fatter and lazier and whinier we get.

A huge economic downturn might make us healthier!  We'll eat less, drive less, and get more exercise!
