taxes taxes
cyphire:
I, for one, am glad that the rich do not pay more taxes than they already do because any dollar the government takes is a dollar wasted. Take a look at how badly the government spends money and then you advocate giving them more? IMHO that is an exercise in lunacy.
It’s also interesting that you admit that the “the folks in DC are screwing you and millions of others out of their future by keeping the vast majority of money in the hands of a tiny fraction of the country.” And you want to increase the amount of money that they handle?
Who do you want to handle the money – those who know how to handle it or those who know how to spend it badly?
Just a thought…

btw, the govt is screwed up and wasting money alright. in iraq, on homeland security, on sweetheart deals to oil and defense companies. these things happened because people like you actually trust the government, despite your anti tax rhetoric. because it’s ultimately not about taxation, it’s about power, who has it and what it’s used for. you just dont want “undeserving” people to get anything for the taxes they do pay.
and of course, with a floating standard of who is deserving, it again boils down to me me me.

I heard 50c of every tax dollar goes to the Pentagon. Do you think that is correct?
Also, how is the government budget deficit funded?

June 20, 2007 at 12:02 PM #60762AnonymousGuestcyphire, congratulations on the sale of your company last week.
Please, of your own accord, feel free to fork over 50% of your gain to D.C.
Why do the rest of us have to be dummies like you? Won’t you just feel good with your ‘contribution’?
That’s right, let’s give more to the folks who gave us those wonderful performances in Bush’s Katrina ‘relief’ and Johnson’s ‘War on Poverty.’
Nah, ‘include me out’ of your ‘give more to D.C. plan.’
D.C. and Sacramento deserve, less, much less. That’s one of the great things about the upcoming depression; it is the one sure fire way that we’ll get rid of all this stupid, harmful government spending.

The people who worked for me were fairly paid – but the way the system is set up I made the real money. I'm not ashamed of that but grateful.
I am quite aware that successful businesses require good workers. Here in America, most of them are paid a fair wage. We do not live in a feudal society. Please explain to me how objecting to Americans paying taxes twice on the same money is somehow forgetting hard workers.
I find your logic quite twisted. You admit that you took most of the profits, slough off responsibility because that was how it was “set up” and then accuse me and jg of somehow turning our back on the workers. Instead of happily forking over 50% of your money to the government, wouldn’t it have been better to directly share more of the wealth with the people whose sweat made you rich?
Don’t get me wrong here, I think you deserve your gains and am not saying that you were not a fair employer. I am just pointing out the disconnect in your own thinking.
Further, cyphire, I have never claimed that poor people receive too many social services (although I do think that there are many who take advantage of the system).
