Talk to you tomorrow PS π
I do think you’ve hit the glass ceiling of message board posting.. you’re very confident in your views and that with responsible research can probably earn you some money if you promote yourself effectively.
August 28, 2006 at 2:19 PM #33757(former)FormerSanDieganParticipantI’m thinking I should take a break to return to being productive for my business.
Good luck
August 28, 2006 at 2:48 PM #33764daveljParticipantFirst off, I enjoy many of the topics you post, Powayseller. However, virtually all of your posts are basically regurgitations of other people’s research and thinking (which you credit, of course). This is fine, of course. These topics are still interesting more often than not. But I assume that if you’re going to start a consulting business that you are going to do your own original research – obviously, as otherwise it would have little to no value to paying customers. Consequently, I’m curious as to why so few of your topics have original research or thinking. I would expect this from the average forum participant (who is not an industry professional), but not from one that expects to build a presumably for-profit consulting business around his/her observations. Having said that I wish you the best of luck. Regarding consulting, after all, “If you’re not a part of the solution, there’s good money to be made in prolonging the problem.” (source: despair, inc.)

Well, enjoy my absence, I’m sure it will be a delight to some πBut not to all! π
All the best on your new venture, I’ve enjoyed your posts very much!
August 28, 2006 at 4:27 PM #33776AnonymousGuestPS, I’ll miss your data and spiritedness! I expect great things from you on your website!
Originality is nice, but not necessary; clear presentation of a compelling case is much more valuable.
August 28, 2006 at 4:46 PM #33778dksolomonParticipantGood luck to you!
Thanks for all the post that hit the mark,I will miss your insights π
1 renter 2 another…or are we just missing out?
Listen to the inner voice, learn all you can, afterall it is your journey, and who really has the crystal ball.

August 30, 2006 at 8:10 AM #33951powaysellerParticipantdavelj, thanks for your comments. My commentary on news, analysis of other economists, and my projections for SD job growth and its effect on housing, both posted here, will continue, as will some charting, such as months inventory that I’ve been discussing (have been saving it for my own site). I will also continue the “regurgitating” of the excellent work done by others.
That said, is there anything about San Diego’s economy that people here are interested in?

1. Domestic in/out-migration trends and numbers.
2. Job creation, employment, unemployment ratesAugust 30, 2006 at 9:09 AM #33961sdduuuudeParticipantPowayseller,
I must say I think it will be great if you continue to post occasionally but not constantly. I think if you post fewer times, you will naturally weed out the redundant ones and put more thought into those you post, which is a good thing.
Somewhere, someone said maybe your calling was as a reporter, and I agree. I hope your pursuits bring you in that direction.
You are an important part of this forum so I’m glad to see you aren’t bailing altogether. We can now be “recovering Piggington Addicts” together.
Let me know when you think this market is heading up.
August 30, 2006 at 9:23 AM #33964Steve BeeboParticipantGood luck Powayseller, but keep posting, too. I don’t always agree with you, but you always have intelligent posts.
I think your true calling may be as an attorney, though. I think if you were a courtroom litigator or prosecutor, you could wear someone out on the witness stand to the point they would become an emotional cripple.
August 30, 2006 at 9:43 AM #33965JESParticipantYes Powayseller!
I am very interested in getting to the bottom of what exactly is happeing with the job scene here. We have more job listings online than any other city in the U.S., but then there are stats out there pointing to job losses and a loss of 50,000 people last year. We hear about all of the highly paid overseas engineers coming here, but then we see that Nokia laid off 600+ a few weeks ago. And the general consensus always semms to be that San Diego is a low wage city. Very conflicting info. Perhaps you can get to the bottom of it!

So basically the same as a CIA interrogator, but without the dogs and the half-drowning… π
