Why are campaign promises of free college or free medical so “crazy”?
It’s just aspirational campaign talk. To me, it’s better than voodoo economics or deficit military spending.
Trump didn’t have a plan and he still doesn’t. He just says whatever his base wants to hear and he got elected. Why do Democrats need to present a spreadsheet?
The immediate goal is to get elected. Delivering on the promise comes later, or never.
Bernie should learn from Trump and not bother with the details.
he should say “It’s so easy, believe me. We will get it done with a simple tax on Wall Street”. Just ramble on in an assertive manner as if it will indeed be very easy.
State schools used to be tuition-free or nearly so until the 60s and 70s. UC Berkeley used to be $300 per year in the 1960s. Given 8x inflation since then, that’s like $2400 per year now.
Why is public medical insurance any crazier than Medicare, Medicaid, or Social Security? All of which theoretically duplicate private functions.
