Total population growth doesn’t imply speed of growth. In an article about “fastest growing”, they should have ranked them by % growth per annum. The authors need a stat course. Stat!
NY at top is only about 0.6%, whereas some Texan cities lower down are over 2%.
May 27, 2015 at 10:23 AM #786679anParticipantI agree. But what can we do… the article has already been written by someone who don’t understand statistics. It’s is CNN afterall. But regardless, it’s still good data. San Diego is growing at 1.5%. That’s pretty good.
May 27, 2015 at 10:36 AM #786681The-ShovelerParticipantOn average SoCal grows at about 1500 people PER-DAY for the last 50 years or so.
To put that into perspective that’s more than two Temecula Valleys per year.

Lot’s of things we can do! Sadly our inaction will force us down some ugly paths. Why is endless growth good again?
JoshMay 28, 2015 at 10:52 AM #786758spdrunParticipant1.5% per year is hardly endless — it’s 2x the national growth rate, keeping in mind that there are a lot of cities with negative or zero growth (think Rust Belt).
May 28, 2015 at 11:26 AM #786761FlyerInHiGuestShould we cap local government budgets at 1.5% growth?
Sorry, but without growth, you can’t have new stuff. Growth is good
May 28, 2015 at 11:28 AM #786762spdrunParticipantSome growth is good. Some new stuff is good. Growth=always good or always bad are both extremist views.
May 28, 2015 at 11:32 AM #786763FlyerInHiGuestSpd, without explosive growth, NYC would be more like Amsterdam today. Maybe good for you.
May 28, 2015 at 11:36 AM #786764The-ShovelerParticipantSure all we would need to do is make sure no one is allowed to get pregnant and no one is allowed to move here.
May 28, 2015 at 11:47 AM #786767FlyerInHiGuestFree universal contraception and family planning can solve many problems.
