Anyone out there have an opinion on the remote worker, virtual assistant trend? If it is even a trend, for starters. Seems to me that if the middle classes are fleeing high priced areas like SD, but unemployment is low and the economy strong, companies will have a hard time getting people to move here. We know this is happening. Anyone see an opportunity here for higher level business services provided remotely, from another state or even from a networked company that has virtual assistants who work from home but are linked? Not just answering phones, but perhaps performing sales functions, accounting etc. Customer companies could even provide limited training to teach these workers what they need done. Just seems like a good idea to leverage freelance/remote workers to perform services that traditionally require an employee.
